Eid El-Fitr is an Indonesian holiday that celebrates the conclusion of Ramadan, one of the holiest months for Muslims.
Eid El-Fitr is characterized as a time of happiness. It is also known as Lebaran. Lebaran is a public holiday that allows Indonesians to spend time with their friends and family members after many months of working. While Eid is celebrated by Muslims of various nationalities, many of its traditions are unique to Indonesia. In Indonesia, Muslims practice the tradition of offering forgiveness to other people. Unlike many other Islamic practices, this practice does not come from the Quran.
Instead, it comes from a fusion of Islamic and Javanese cultures in the 15th century.
Happy Eid El-Fitr everyone.
