Greeting Yogyakarta, Celebrating Diversity: International Students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Learn Culture and Build Togetherness 🌺✨
Learning in higher education doesn’t only happen inside the classroom! For our international students, understanding a new environment also means embracing the culture, social interactions, and community life of Yogyakarta.
On the second day of the International Student Orientation & Empowerment Program (Thursday, 24/09) at Omah Kecebong, 28 new international students from 10 countries gathered under the theme “Mengenal, Beradaptasi, dan Bertumbuh di UIN Sunan Kalijaga”. Organized by CDCIA, the day was packed with rich cultural immersion and engaging outbound activities! 🍃
Dressed in traditional Javanese attire kebaya for female students, and surjan with blangkon for male students, they enjoyed batik making, playing gamelan, and try authentic Indonesian cuisine. The event was also warmly attended by Vice Rector III, Prof. Abdur Rozaki, who greeted the students to build closeness right from the start of their journey.
Head of CDCIA, Dr. Witriani, S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that this experience goes beyond visuals; it helps students learn how to relate and interact in a new social environment. From trying out Javanese words like “matur nuwun” to embracing Indonesia’s rich diversity, our new students are ready to learn, adapt, and grow together! 🇮🇩💙
Welcome to the UIN Sunan Kalijaga family!
