IRISH LANGUAGE COURSE FOR HIBERNIA/ PRIMARY SCHOOL APPLICANTS

Coláiste Gaeilge Átha Luain is now accepting registrations for its Irish Language Course for Hibernia Applicants. This course is aimed at those who will be doing the Irish language interview for the H.Dip. in Arts in Primary Education. The course focuses on the main topics of conversation that arise in the interview and participants are given an opportunity to improve their speaking skills and add to their vocabulary.

This course aims to provide participants with information that will enable them to:
• start their interview well - this will put the interviewee at ease and impress the interviewers
• use verbs correctly
• give comprehensive answers, at a high standard, to questions that are frequently asked in the interview
• give grammatically correct answers.

The course is suitable for those who have studied Irish at school, perhaps a good number of years ago, who understand a great deal of the language, but have had few opportunities to use it in recent years. The emphasis is on developing speaking and listening skills and grammar is taught in context, as it is required.

Irish Leaving Certificate Oral Preparation Course - Autumn 2017
his course is designed for students who are sitting their Leaving Certificate Irish Oral Examination in April 2018. Our teachers have valuable experience in examining the Irish orals and students will be advised on how to achieve maximum results.

As the oral examination now accounts for 40% of the overall mark for the Leaving Certificate, it is of vital importance that students are well prepared in this area.
During the course, the various aspects of the oral will be covered: An Fáilitiú (the welcoming), Léamh na Filíochta (the reading of the poetry), An Cur Síos ar Shraith Pictiúir (the description of the picture series) and An Comhrá Ginearálta (the general conversation).

Participants will be given study packs which include general vocabulary, sample questions and answers and a CD with study tips and audio samples of the poetry.
Emphasis will be placed on all aspects of the course, the description of a series of pictures and on how to ask and answer questions about the pictures. Techniques, vocab and grammar will also be taught, which will assist students with all parts of the oral and in particular with the general conversation element.
