Meet Damian, Gershom, and Stanly, the legendary Three Musketeers of the Peer Mentor programme. These senior peer mentor volunteers have been total rock stars at our orientation and graduation ceremonies. They're the brains behind making sure everything runs smoothly—what else would you expect from engineers?

Seldom seen alone in the wild, these three are the ultimate team when it comes to giving campus tours and making new students feel at home. They’ve been the backbone of so many successful events, setting a high bar for future volunteers!

They’ve now finished their studies, and they will be moving on to the next chapter of their careers. Although we’ll miss them, we’re super proud of everything they’ve achieved and the amazing legacy they leave behind.

Meet this dynamic Peer Mentor trio: Ricky, Caitlin, and Rachel.
These three SETU Peer Mentors are always together, spreading laughter and good vibes wherever they go. You’ll often spot them giggling and having a great time, making every event they attend more fun and lively!

These three are inseparable and are always ready to jump in and help out at university events, orientations, and open days. Whether it’s welcoming new students, giving campus tours, or assisting with events, they do it all with enthusiasm and a big smile. Known for their friendly and approachable nature, Ricky, Caitlin, and Rachel are the go-to Peer Mentors whenever something is going on at SETU Carlow Campus.

Meet Peer Mentor Mika, who has just completed year 2 of the Cybercrime and IT Security course.

Mika is always willing to help out at events, specialising in campus tours and car park duty - in other words, herding cats! Mika also volunteers with first-year students on an individual basis, which is an invaluable service, especially for those who struggle with the transition to third level. It has been a pleasure to work with Mika this year, they always arrive with a big smile and their Peer Mentor sweatshirt :-)

"Kaleidoscope: A Pi of Diversity" is a captivating art installation that embodies the essence of unity, diversity, and the transformative power of volunteering within the SETU community.

The unveiling of this amazing collaborative art installation by SETU students will take place on Tuesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in the upstairs canteen.

This art piece was created through the collaborative efforts of the Apprentice students, Peer Mentor volunteers, and the Creative Art Society students. and is a colourful collage of student engagement and shared creativity.

Meet Peer Mentor Abeer Abouhajar, a 4th year computing student in interactive digital art and design at SETU Carlow Campus. Abeer has been a wonderful Peer Mentor for the past three years, demonstrating exceptional dedication to supporting first year students in navigating the transition to third level education.

As she prepares to embark on the next chapter of her own career, Abeer leaves behind a lasting legacy of mentorship and camaraderie that will continue to positively impact students for years to come.

Best wishes to all our students heading into exams this week, you've got this, you can do it!! You've put in the work throughout the year, so try not to stress too much (I know, easier said than done, right?)

Don't stay up all night studying! Remember to eat, hydrate, and take breaks regularly.

And remember, if you are struggling, there is help available, visit us at the help desk outside the exam hall in the Barrow Centre for details.
