Michael's NS has two mainstream teachers, a shared SET Teacher and and SNA. The school boasts of the latest in computer technology, Ipads, Interactive Whiteboards and High Speed 500MB Fibre Internet access, which allows us to facilitate online Science Workshops etc.. The children are all encouraged to take part in this technological side of modern education, which is used to supplement learning wh

ere possible. Recreation facilities include an impeccably cut one-acre playing field, a hurling wall, sports and play equipment and outdoor sheds. The children are coached in Tag Rugby, Table Tennis, Hurling and Football throughout the school year. The tin whistle/recorder is taught to all the Senior Classes. Students get an opportunity to experience Science, Drama, History, Geography and we have a strong tradition of Gaeilge in the school. We are an Aistear promoting school with a range of resources to support each theme. We actively promote station teaching in both the Senior and Junior Rooms. The Accelerated Reading Programme is used with the Senior Classes and is a fantastic resource for motivation and encouragement of reading along with the development of literacy skills. The New Renaissance Freckle TM Maths Programme is used to supplement the delivery of the Maths Curriculum.

The Gaynor Cup is a prestigious competition with many scouts watching, and many future female professional players get spotted at this event.

The Senior Room had a really positive experience at Thurles Golf Club today, thanks to Ray Ryan

Thankfully the weather cleared up shortly after we arrived

We went up along the course fairways and played into real holes as part of a mini scramble. It is a credit to all students that they played really well.

They used a variety of clubs for various parts of the course, and finished with a lovely treat in the clubhouse.

Today, we had an excellent Golf Workshop as part of our PE programme.

All students of all levels enjoyed the activities.

The Senior students were blindfolded as they experienced what it might be like to play if someone was visually impaired (and to coach golf to someone who was visually impaired).

They also experienced what it might be like to play if wheelchair bound.
