Committed to improving care for Ireland's ageing population. 🤝

Congratulations to UCD College of Social Sciences and Law alumna Cathy Reynolds on her appointment as Chair of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Having previously served on the Society's Advocacy and Public Affairs Committee and Fundraising Advisory Committee, Cathy now takes on this leadership role while also serving on the Commission on Care for Older People, helping shape the future of health and social care in Ireland.

Her leadership marks an important step forward for dementia advocacy and care in Ireland.

UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science alumnus Breifne O'Brien has been selected as Ireland's only representative for the 2026 IFAJ Alltech Young Leaders Programme, one of just 10 agricultural journalists chosen from around the world. The prestigious programme recognises emerging leaders in agricultural journalism and communications, supporting the next generation of global industry voices.

"It's a dream come true." 🍿

School of English, Drama and Film, UCD alumna Lily Long is celebrating the premiere of 'Fluff Piece' on Prime Video, where she stars, produces and has also written an episode for the upcoming second season.

After completing her Master's in Screenwriting at University College Dublin, Lily has continued to build a successful multi-hyphenate career while helping inspire young audiences through stories that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and media literacy.

How much more beautiful your end destination could be if you were more open to what life might be trying to show you. I'm glad that I was courageous enough to lean into other things that were calling my attention."

What an incredible year for Aghogho Okpara! She graduated with a degree in medicine – a huge achievement in itself – and made the Forbes 30 under 30 list in recognition of her social impact in empowering young people in education, as founder of Achieve with Aghogho.

Celebrating excellence in engineering research. ⚙️

Congratulations to UCD College of Engineering & Architecture alumni Cian O'Cathasaigh and David Cunningham on receiving Best Presenter and Best Student Paper awards at the Civil Engineering Research Association in Ireland (CERI 2026) conference.

Cian and David were recognised for the quality of their research and presentations, highlighting the strength of UCD's engineering talent on a national stage. Their achievements reflect the innovation and excellence that continue to shape the UCD Alumni community.

UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School alumnus Donal Tierney has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science by University College Dublin in recognition of his outstanding contributions to veterinary science, sustainable development and higher education.

Through his leadership of Bimeda and his support for initiatives including the UCD Bimeda Herd Health Hub at UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science, Donal has helped advance research, innovation and education in Ireland.

Helping shape the future of general practice in Ireland.🩺

Congratulations to UCD School of Medicine alumnus Professor Walter Cullen on his appointment as Vice President of the Irish College of GPs.

Elected at the Irish College of GPs AGM in May, University College Dublin Professor Cullen will serve on the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) Board, the College's primary decision-making body, where he will help guide its strategic direction and support its members.
