We are pleased to announce the 2025 Taiwan-Ireland Poetry Translation Competition. This year's chosen poem is 'Like a Song – to 107 year-old Mumu on her Journey', by D**g Shu-Ming. The competition is open to translators around the world, whether they are students, professional translators or simply passionate about poetry. The closing date for submissions is 10 September 2025.

Our Taiwan/Ireland Poetry Translation Competition is back, and this year it is organised in partnership with our friends at the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (國立臺灣文學館 National Museum of Taiwan Literature)!
Each year, we invite anyone from around the world to join our Taiwan/Ireland Poetry Translation Competition. In our competitions, we explore the range of languages and traditions found on the island of Taiwan, and discover how these can be linked to the poetry traditions of Ireland. This year's poem is 莎拉茅群訪談記事 [Notes on interviews with the Slamaw] by 黃璽 (Temu Suyan). It is written in Mandarin, but it speaks about the 莎拉茅 (Slamaw) people, a subgroup of the Atayal tribe from the Dajia River Basin. Once the competition closes, winning entries will be chosen by a panel of language and poetry experts. Last Thursday the Director Marco Gioacchini, together with Japanese Ambassador Maruyama and Prof. Giorgio Amitrano (Univ. Orientale di Napoli) took part in the international Conference entitled “What We Talk About When We Talk About Haruki Murakami’s Translators: Their Roles and Significance” at Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation in Dublin.

Prof. Amitrano, keynote speaker of the conference, gave a lecture about "Circuits of the Mind: Inside and Outside Murakami Haruki".
