Initial work on Glendoo for the Leinster 3 Day. It is tough to represent the terrain while maintaining clarity and sticking to standards.

Map legibility is extremely important but in peat hag areas it can be a nightmare. The sample below is almost impossible to understand while standing still, never mind while running out there. There should be no need to decipher the map.
The contours dissapear and then don't match up. The contour and earth bank symbols have been shrunk so that all can be mapped but now it is too difficult to see/read them.

With symbol sizes intact the level of detail is governed for you. Less most certainly becomes more. However it is a tough task to improve the legibility while maintaining a decent level of detail.

How would you map a peat hag area to keep it legible for a runner at high speed?

Thanks to everyone who came out to run at UCD yesterday. The map looked a whole lot different to the one used for our previous event two years ago. Mark your calendars with our urban event which will use the WHOLE UCD campus in Autumn.

Rockbrook and Shankill have events in the same weekend, Saturday and Sunday respectively, in February.

I have intentions of running an event in Deer Park too, permission pending, a great new sprint map with incredible detail.

lorrieqs maps will be very busy for the next month.

Already on the table are:
- Fairview Park and East Point Business Park (GEN)
- Ashbourne, Co. Meath
-A small town in South Korea

Also in discussion for:
- Extension of Shankill Park (Setanta)

The plan is to have these finished by June 18th, for races in the coming season!

Hello again! Just finished a lot of post minute stress for the UCD event which has now passed. We had a few hiccups on the day, but were very happy with the map that myself and Cillin Corbett produced. There was some good competition out there. Looks like DCU is set to be just as good!
