What a grat idea from our friends at walk "This Game-a-thon has a lot more to it than simply gaming! One of our support models is "Real Life Training". This model supports people aged 18 - 24 to develop their natural support structure and to access mainstream education, training and employment.
To do this, WALK work closely with people to develop skills that will benefit them in this area. The people we support thought it would be a great idea to organise an event that allowed them to do what they love (gaming!) for a good cause (Walk Community Project Fund)!
Luke, one of the people involved in the project, said that the project has brought people together who have similar interests, like gaming, technology, and digital media… he said many of the guys on the team are working towards careers in digital media or technology and this project will help them develop skills for this.
Dani, who is supporting the project, said that the project has been great for the team to learn how to take ownership over a project. They’ve been able to use their various creative skills to create the posters, the Twitch page, the Go Fund Me page and the general promotion of the event."
