Hidden Scientists/Hidden Creatives 2026

📍 Main Atrium, East Quad, TU Dublin Grangegorman Campus
📅 Monday, 27th April – Friday, 1st May 2026
🕑 Opening Event: Wednesday, 29th April at 2pm

Now in its third year, Hidden Scientists / Hidden Creatives is a powerful poster exhibition shining a light on the overlooked contributions of women in STEM and Design. Created by second year Visual Communication students at Dublin. This project challenges prevailing narratives about innovation and knowledge by addressing the underrepresentation and historical marginalisation of women in these fields. The exhibition highlights the essential yet frequently unseen roles women have played in advancing research, discovery, and design.

This project is an ongoing collaboration between the TU Dublin School of Art and Design, the School of Biological, Health and Sports Sciences, the Sustainability and Research Hub, and the Research, Ethics, and Integrity Office. It is supported by the Office of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Faculty of Sciences and Health.

Each year, upon completion of the exhibition, posters are permanently housed in the Green Way Hub, growing the collection.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at TU Dublin is pleased to launch the new Ethics, Technology & Culture (etc.) Lecture Series, exploring how technological change is shaping society, culture, and everyday life.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Dr Rilla Khaled, internationally recognised design researcher, titled: Real (talk) > True (talk): Making space for making.

In her lecture, she will introduce the Method for Design Materialisation (MDM), a framework that documents how creative projects develop from initial ideas through to finished outcomes. By making the thinking behind design work more visible, the approach challenges traditional definitions of research while highlighting how creative practices contribute to our understanding of technology, culture, and society.

Join us on Thursday evening for the opening of Liminality.

‘Liminality’ is curated by students on the BA Creative Industries and Visual Culture programme at TU Dublin School of Art and Design in collaboration with the RHA School. In ‘Liminality’ students from the RHA School present works that dwell on the space between — body and soul, youth and experience, stillness and change.
Through diverse approaches the artists trace moments of quiet transformation and human vulnerability. The work on display explores; nature, colour, and the passage of time and the metaphor for growth whilst investigating renewal -inviting viewers to pause within this in-between state.

The exhibition reflects how art itself inhabits liminality — moving between personal expression and shared experience, inner and outer worlds.

Running until Saturday, 22nd November.
