38th European Conference on Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care
“The Dynamics of Medical Transformations: Society, Technology, Knowledge and Ethics”
📢 CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
📍Rotterdam, 25–28 August 2026
Organised by the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare and the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Medical Centre and Erasmus School of Philosophy, Rotterdam.
Technological and social innovations continuously reshape medicine — transforming clinical practice while challenging our moral values, knowledge frameworks, and understanding of what constitutes “good care.” The 2026 ESPMH conference invites philosophers, ethicists, historians, and health researchers to explore how evolving technologies, social change, and crises—from AI to pandemics—affect the ethical and epistemic foundations of medicine. Abstracts may address – but are not limited to – the topics below.
• AI and digitalization of healthcare
• Biotechnology and moral change
• Evolution of medical knowledge
• Theoretical frameworks & methods
• Research ethics
• Public health and prevention
• Environmental challenges and healthcare
• Bioethics in crisis situations
