Hey all.
The new email is out so I'll stick a copy up here. Just a reminder, if you'd like to get an actual email then please send in your address and we'll add you to the mailing list.
Hello Chess people,
So after last weeks, admittedly terrible, attempt to introduce poetry to you lot** I have decided to go back to the old classic and just send out an email of random stuff that may or may not be related to chess.
First off I'd like to welcome all the new members that signed up at the last socs day. Turn out was atrocious but what can you expect with the weather being that terrible and all***. I'd like to apologise to all those eager beavers who were there on the dot of 11 ready to join chess and then had to wait around for a while for us to actually show up; although to be honest if that's the most biggest way we disappoint you this semester I'd consider that a victory****.
On to actually chess related stuff I guess. As you should know by now we meet up every Wednesday from 8 till 11 to play chess in Smokey's*****, what you may not know****** is that we will be playing GIANT CHESS******* next Tuesday outside the library. The time has yet to be decided but will probably be from 1ish/2ish onwards. More definite details will be giving in next Mondays email.
In completely non chess related news we received an email from Feminist Society asking for our support for a protest that they are organising next Friday from 9.45 at the Quad in order to bring attention to the ongoing cases of discrimination on grounds of gender against NUIG staff members. I'm almost completely sure that we were just included as part of an email blast, although the thought of Fem Soc asking us specifically amuses me no end. Although I assume most off you will be asleep or busy at that time******** I'll include the links that they sent me for you to peruse if you have a spare moment:

Back to the chess. Many interesting plans are being formulated at the moment in relation to what this society will do before the end of the year including, but not limited to; luminous chess, chess hoodies/t-shirts/ties/socks, another underwater chess, chess trip abroad*********, extreme chess of various kinds, chess lessons, organising a group to head to intervarsities, organising intervarsities**********, organising an internal competition, human/wizard chess***********, and so on and so forth. If any of these ideas interest you feel free to tell a member of the committee at the weekly meeting and your interest may make it slightly more likely to happen************.
I'm sure you'll all be disappointed by the brevity of this email but I'm starting to get sleepy and I think it's about time that I head to bed if I want to be awake in time for the meeting tonight, got to get those 8 hours don't you know. I'm almost completely certain that I've failed to mention something, probably something important so you should like our page here. It's where we post all the last minute updates that don't get put into our weekly email and our funny videos and jokes eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49JtNpQWAQY.
Until tonight,
Caoimhín
*I should probably try to put more effort into the subject line of these emails.
**Last weeks email was in the form of a haiku
***Trying to give you an out here but I still think you're all a shower of lazy bastards
****Insert your own joke here
*****That's the café at the end of the concourse************* for all you non Arts/Science people.
******Probably because we haven't told anyone yet.
*******Messing with the size of words seems to be all the rage amongst society secretaries these days.
********And that the rest of you won't care.**************
*********The Aran islands totally counts right.
**********We're not considering this one very seriously though to be honest.
***********This one requires cooperation with another society though so not very likely.
************I wouldn't hold my breath to be honest though.
*************I assume all of you know where this is.
**************I'm kinda assuming that nobody actually reads these footnote yokes at the end here.
