Huge congratulations to Grace Barnes who won First Place and the Audience Choice Award the University of Galway 2026 Threesis competition on Wednesday.

Her presentation on “Disabled Women’s Sexual Rights in the European Court of Human Rights” impressed both the audience and judges with a powerful, engaging and accessible presentation on an important and often overlooked topic. Her PhD research is funded by Research Ireland and supervised by Professor Eilionóir Flynn, Director of the Centre for Disability Law and Policy.

Threesis challenges postgraduate researchers (Masters, PhD, MD) to explain their work in just 3 slides, in 3 minutes in front of 3 judges - making complex research clear, engaging, and relevant to the public.

Grace is pictured below with the University of Galway President David Burn, Adam Collison (2nd Place) and Sienna Stucke (3rd Place). Well done to all 11 postgraduate researchers who took part and particular congratulations to Adam and Sienna on their achievements.
