NUIG Explore Student & Staff Innovation Initiative at the National University of Ireland Galway Up to €900 of funding is available for successful projects.

Run by NUI Galway, EXPLORE gives students and staff the opportunity to work in equal partnership to enable sustainable innovation and change to take place at NUI Galway. Students and staff are invited to team up and work together on an innovative, sustainable project of their choosing. Application forms are available on www.su.nuigalway.ie/explore. Ireland's innovation is becoming impressively prominent on the world stage. The Bloomberg Innovation Index ranked it as the 13th most innovative country in the world, and placed it first in a number of sub-categories such as value-added and productivity.

Great to see the 'Breaking the SEAL’ – Student Engagement with Archives through Learning' 2015/16 EXPLORE project celebrated yesterday at NUI Galway after Barry Houlihan and Paul Flynn won a national award for outstanding excellence and innovation in the field of information literacy and teaching in Ireland from CONUL (Consortium of National and University Libraries). The cake was good!

Congratulations to the 'Breaking the SEAL’ – Student Engagement with Archives through Learning' 2015/16 Explore project who have won a national award for outstanding excellence and innovation in the field of information literacy and teaching in Ireland from CONUL (Consortium of National and University Libraries). The winners Barry Houlihan (Hardiman Library) and Paul Flynn (School of Education) have won €1,000 for use in professional development or project-related activity and are now invited to showcase their work in the Journal of Information Literacy. Their project focused on connecting second level students to the archival material, primary sources, and collections of the Hardiman Library.
