Before the summer holidays, our school community came together to give our Principal, Ms O'Brien, a surprise Lap of Honour and farewell ceremony as we celebrated her retirement after a long career in education plus five wonderful years at Killorglin Community College. π
Over the last five years, Ms O'Brien has made an incredible impact on our school. Through her leadership, kindness and unwavering support, she has helped foster the positive, caring and welcoming culture that makes our school such a special place. Her influence will continue to be felt by our students, staff and wider school community for many years to come.
The occasion was marked with a number of special presentations. On behalf of the students and staff, Ellie Memory, our Student of the Year, presented Ms O'Brien with a beautiful peony plant. Peonies symbolise respect, gratitude, good fortune and new beginnings, a fitting tribute as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.
The Student Council also expressed their appreciation by presenting Ms O'Brien with a stunning portrait, beautifully created by our incredibly talented student, Eabha McGregor. The Parents Council joined in thanking Ms O'Brien for her dedication and leadership by presenting her with a special gift as a token of their sincere appreciation for all she has done for our school community.
Ms O'Brien, thank you for your dedication, encouragement and the lasting difference you have made to the lives of so many students, staff and families. Your kindness, vision and leadership have left an enduring legacy at Killorglin Community College, and while you will be greatly missed, we wish you every happiness, good health and many wonderful adventures in your retirement.
Enjoy this well-deserved new chapter! πβ¨
