Dear All,

As those of you finished last year while the rest of us had to hang on for another 12 months. I would like to arrange one final night out, to celebrate the achievement we all just made. Not only are some of you finishing Masters, while the rest are finishing their final year essays etc.. I believe that as we are coming to an end. We should all meet up for a good evening out to celebrate. Dinner, drinks and merriment. If anyone is interested please let me know. All are welcome and I hope all will come. It will more than likely be our last encounter. (As a whole group). :-)

On 'Laudato si.'

I don't know if you are interested or even that you care but I thought that these extracts from the papal encyclical spoke volumes to the ordinary electorate in this country. It refers to the issue of water, as a human right, not a commodity as some would have you believe. Food for thought,

Pope Francis informs us that,
'...in some places there is a growing tendency, despite its scarcity, to privatize this resource, turning it into a commodity subject to the laws of the market. Yet access to safe drinkable water is a basic and universal human right, since it is essential to human survival and, as such, is a condition for the exercise of other human rights.'
he equally warns that,
'...it is also conceivable that the control of water by large multinational businesses may become a major source of conflict in this century.[23]'.
I have no reason to disbelieve what he is saying and if this is true our political masters would want to wake up and listen to the ordinary people. Those people who have been consistent in their opposition to market forces, stealing our basic right to water, which belongs to all of us.The consequences are frightening.

Once more we reach that time of year when we will be receiving results throughout the college. All that remains from us here is to wish everyone the best and to those of you who graduate, well done. Please make sure passwords and Ids are up to date for tomorrow.
