Best wishes to Beth Thornton who is a finalist in tomorrows Teagasc / FBD Student of the Year 2025 awards. Beth completed the Teagasc Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture in Dairy Herd Management with Distinction at the Salesian Agricultural College Pallaskenry.

This week our Teagasc Level 6 Dairy Herd Management and Drystock Management students had an excellent Discussion Group talk with Dr. Dave Davies. He discussed steps involved in making the best quality silage, how to best preserve silage to minimise waste and getting the best animal performance by increasing silage quality.

Congratulations to Teagasc Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture - Mechanisation student George Culleton. At todays project showcase event the Kilkenny man received the Fabrication award for his design and fabrication of an elephant trunk bale handler. Danny O'Donoghue who presented George with his award acknowledged his dedication, commitment and team work skills.

Showcasing their tractors and fabrication projects this afternoon are Teagasc mechanisation students Seamus Roche, Limerick (tractor repairs), Sean Tooher , Offaly (log splitter), Sean Kenneally, Cork (hoof paring crate),Jack Sugrue, Kerry (power box) and Aodhagan Brady, Cavan (land leveller).
