“by combining dental calculus with published isotopic, genetic, and faunal evidence, this study adds individual-level resolution to the long-standing debate on the spread and integration of food production, showing that crops were firmly embedded in daily life through multi-layered forager, herder, and farmer interaction by the early part of the Late Iron Age”

We are delighted to announce that Dr James Mathieu is visiting the UCD School of Archaeology next Wednesday 20th May and as part of the visit will be providing a presentation at 2pm. James is currently a Consulting Scholar in the European Archaeology Section of the Penn Museum but he will be better known for his contributions to Experimental Archaeology and (separately) medieval castles and fortifications.

The subject of this talk will be converting theory into practices within experimental archaeology and anyone interested in warmly welcome to the Barry Rafter Seminar Room next Wednesday at 2pm.

If you have an interest in archaeology and Glendalough it is a fantastic experience. We regret we cannot offer places to those under 18 this year. Adult places (subject to availability) are available from fixed blocks of two or three days. No prior knowledge of excavation is required and we endeavour to accommodate people of all abilities.
