The New Word Order is accepting submissions for Issue IV of the student-run journal. The Editors are looking for fiction, poetry, non-fiction, art and photography submissions from anyone with an interpretation of this issue’s theme, ‘Strangers.’
We actively encourage creators of all genres and styles to submit to the journal.
Please consult the following guidelines before submitting your work:
Fiction ― Short Stories can be submitted with a 3,000 word max. Please submit no more than 1 short story over 800 words. Flash fiction under 800 words will be accepted, but please submit no more than 2 pieces of this length.
Poetry ― We will accept a maximum of three poems per submission.
Non-fiction ― Non-fiction essays may be submitted with a 3,000 word max. Other forms of non-fiction are welcome.
Photography and Art ― For best quality, photographs and artwork must be submitted as JPEG or a PNG file. The featured image should not exceed 1200 x 900 pixels in landscape mode, or 900 x 1200 pixels in portrait mode. Please submit no more than 3 individual pieces. Photo Essays may contain more but must be submitted as one piece.
Submissions cannot have been published elsewhere.
Submissions that fail to adhere to these guidelines will not be accepted.
How to Submit

The type of submission (fiction, poetry, non-fiction) should be included in the subject line.
The body of your email should include your name and pronouns, how you would like to be credited (pseudonym/anonymously), the title of the piece, and a list of trigger warnings relevant to your submission.
Please include word count for fiction and non-fiction pieces.
For art and photography submissions, please include a short rationale (approx. 200 words).
