Today our students looked a little different, and so did the learning. 😊
Using LEGO Serious Play, they explored the topic of Internet Safety in a creative, hands-on, and inclusive way. Instead of only learning through paper and pen, students built ideas, challenges, emotions, and solutions using creativity, teamwork, and conversation.

What made this session special was seeing students express themselves in ways that traditional classrooms do not always allow. Some students who normally stay quiet became confident. Others connected ideas faster through building and visual thinking.

This experience reminded us that learning is not “one size fits all.”
Education becomes more powerful when students are allowed to:

✔️ create
✔️ build
✔️ explore
✔️ communicate
✔️ think differently

Inclusive learning is not about lowering expectations, it is about creating opportunities for every student to succeed in their own way. 💚

Learning happens in many different ways and sometimes the best lessons happen outside the classroom.
Today our students spent time in the garden enjoying activities like archery, teamwork games, and outdoor challenges. These moments help build confidence, communication, patience, focus, and social connection while giving students the opportunity to relax, laugh, and support one another.
Activities like these remind us how important it is to create spaces where students can grow not only academically, but personally and emotionally too.

A visit day to the TUS Campus in Athlone was more than just a trip, it was a glimpse into what the future can look like.
Walking through the campus, asking questions, and experiencing a new environment helped our students see that progression is real and possible. For many, it was a moment to imagine themselves taking the next step, continuing their journey, and building something for their future.
Growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in moments like these, when curiosity meets opportunity.
We are proud of every student for showing up, engaging, and allowing themselves to believe that they can go further.
This is just the beginning.
Thanks for all TUS`s family for such a amazing day.

A simple trip can mean so much more.💚
Our visit to Lough Boora was not just about getting out of the classroom, it was about connection, independence, and growth. Surrounded by nature, the students had the opportunity to slow down, reflect, and experience something beyond their daily routine.
Moments like these help build confidence. They encourage decision-making, social interaction, and a sense of responsibility, all essential skills for independent living. Stepping outside a familiar environment allows students to challenge themselves in new ways, support each other, and feel part of something meaningful.

We believe that learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom. It happens in conversations, in shared experiences, in quiet walks, and in small achievements that build stronger, more independent individuals.

Days like this remind us that growth often begins when we step outside.

A Different Kind of Learning Day!

Last week, ours students swapped the classroom for the dartboard as Eric and Raphael organised a friendly darts competition at The Goalpost in Tullamore.

The focus was completely on learning and fun, no alcohol involved, just great energy, laughter, and some surprisingly accurate throws!

Activities like this help students develop focus, coordination, teamwork, and confidence, while also encouraging social interaction and connection with the local community. It’s a great example of how learning can happen in many different ways, even outside the classroom.

A big thank you all family from The Goalpost for welcoming our group and helping make the day such a success.

Who knew learning could include a perfect bullseye?

We are incredibly proud of our student Moira Scott, from Tullamore, who will be representing Leinster in Kayaking.

Being selected was an emotional moment for Moira. After seeing some of her friends chosen the week before, she hoped and prayed she would join them. When she received the news, she described feeling proud, excited and absolutely delighted.

Moira trains with Tullamore Special Olympics Club and Laochra Laois Special Olympics Club, and through sport she continues to build confidence, resilience and strength.

Her words say it all:
“My sports help me grow as a person. I challenge myself, keep going, and encourage others. I love motivating my friends. If I can do it, so can you.”

Moira reminds us that sport is more than competition, it is growth, community, belief and courage.

Congratulations, Moira, we are all behind you.

Building ideas, shaping the future.

Over the past two days, our staff took part in an inspiring LEGO Serious Play training with the incredible Miriam O’Donoghue.
We explored creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and innovative ways to support our learners — all through the power of play and imagination.

These sessions will make a real difference in how we work, communicate, and grow as a centre.
Here’s to new ideas, brave thinking, and meaningful learning!

Crossover Special!

This week we had an incredible experience at the centre! We welcomed Stephanie, host of the Think Possible podcast, for a very special crossover episode with our students from NLN Chats.

Our learners truly shined — asking thoughtful questions, sharing ideas, building confidence, and discovering even more about the world of podcasting.

It was an inspiring day filled with learning, teamwork, and great energy — exactly what NLN is all about!

A big thank-you to Stephanie for taking the time to be with us, and congratulations to our students for their fantastic work. 💙

Stay tuned… the episode is on the way! 👀🔥

We have something wonderful to celebrate!

Our student Leah Bracken has just published her very first book — a beautiful children’s story full of color, imagination, and heart:

“Raspberry’s Life as a Pink Polar Bear” 🐻‍❄️💖

This is a very proud moment for all of us — especially considering that not long ago, another one of our students, Amy Carrey, also published her own book!

It is inspiring to see our students believing in themselves, finding their voice, and turning creativity into something real and meaningful.

Congratulations, Leah!
May this be the first of many incredible projects ahead!
