GráSoc - LGBT+ Society WIT

Officially founded in 2010, WIT (Waterford Institute of Technology) has had an active LGBT* presence for many years before its establishment as a legitimate society, and has prided itself for its safe-space, open minded culture. With a college consisting of a large volume of LGBT* students and staff members, our society exists to create a community within the institute for all members of the LGBT* community including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, queer, straight allies and otherwise and is open to all students within WIT. We engage in many events throughout the year such as dedicated safe spaces, movie nights, fundraiser nights, guest speakers, 'Rainbow Week', nightly events, and of course, the college LGBT* event of the year, Pink Training, hosted by USI (Union of Students of Ireland). Our society continues to grow throughout the years, and always welcomes new membership each year.

And thats Day 2 wrapped🌈

There were so many amazing talks on today and unfortunately I cannot attend all of them🫣

Some of the talks today included giving an insight into activism and how to be an activist!
We also heard from and his story of living with HIV and the developments made in STD awareness and some insight into PrEP.

We also had time to sneak in a watch at the Rugby🫣(yes the g**s can like sport)

Some talks attended by other students included Neurodiversity and Queerness and opened the floor to some fun diagnosis talks💪
Running an LGBTQ+ Society was held by Niamh, which included talking about fundraising and how to go about outreaches for support.

Then later in the night after dinner we had the unreal come in with some amazing performances!
Again we had Raphaël up WERKING that catwalk.

Thanks again to .ie and especially Niamh Kennedy, USI VP for Equality and Citizenship for organising such an amazing weekend for us all🌈❤️

Day 1 of Pink Training Complete✅

Today we had our Health and Safety introduction and Alphabet Soup, as known, the largest online dictionary of LGBTQ+ Terms.
This was then followed up by active consent talks and national hotlines which can be found in this post!

We then attended the Drag Show in Electric night club in Galway City with Raphaël and Mia performing in the open dance off with an exciting result of a tie between the two!!

The night was finished out with some boogying and a few drinks until we hit the hay, ready for Day 2. (Which we are currently attending😉)
