Experience, qualifications, information about classes, courses and tuition and why learn French? Bonjour et bienvenue à Alice Doyle French Tuition,
My name is Alice Doyle and I am an experienced Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle French Teacher, French Tutor and State Examinations Commission Examiner for Junior Cycle French. I am also a qualified Examiner and Corrector for the DELF Examination for CEF
RL Levels A1 - B2. The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) is a diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates. There are six independent diplomas, which correspond, respectively, to the six levels of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). I believe in lifelong learning and investing in continuous professional development and you will find a list of some of my most recent CPD courses at the end of this post. For me though, the most important thing I can tell you is that I love the French language and that I love teaching it. I also love learning languages and as languages are always changing, every language teacher is also a language student. I, therefore, understand the challenges that students face when they are learning a language and particularly when they fall behind with their schoolwork and university studies. Like everything in life, it takes work, but it is worth the effort. My aim is to provide a high standard of teaching and to support and encourage students with their language learning ambitions and needs. I focus on both the students’ needs and, where applicable, the exam requirements and I encourage all students to reflect on and learn from their own ways of learning. I am a creative Teacher and I enjoy finding new ways to present and teach French language content, e.g. using creative writing skills, word games, poetry, literature or using film or youtube videos. I provide clear, detailed explanations, examples and notes and opportunities for all students to practice and test each new learning. First and foremost, learning a new language is a gift. Learning French opens a door to new ways of thinking and communicating, to a new range of sounds and intonation and to new and diverse customs and traditions. Language allows us to express our views, ideas and emotions and our own sense of colour and individuality. French is an analytical language that structures thought and develops critical thinking. It is the language of great philosophers and eminent scientists, e.g. Descartes, Sartre, Pierre and Marie Curie and Pasteur. French is also the language of the universal ideals advocated by the philosophers of the 18th century Enlightenment, who helped to spread the idea of human rights throughout the world. The French language is spoken and taught on all five continents and, as well as making international travel easier, French language skills are also a career asset. About my classes, courses and tuition:
I provide individual tuition for students of Leaving Certificate Higher and Ordinary Level French. These classes focus on improving French grammar, listening and reading comprehension skills, vocabulary and oral and written expression. My classes are designed to complement and enhance students' existing learning and to focus their preparation for the Leaving Certificate examination. I also provide individual tuition for adult learners. These classes focus on practical speaking, listening, grammar and writing skills which will encourage adult learners to communicate in everyday situations and on holidays. I also provide individual tuition to students studying French in college or university. Contact Details:
