On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, a captivating and well-attended study day titled "A Bridge to Digital Literacy: Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Bedouin Sector" was held at the innovative XLabs complex at Sapir Academic College. This event, which marked a significant milestone, brought together academics, students, local authority officials, teachers, entrepreneurs, representatives from government ministries, private entities, foundations, and numerous stakeholders. All were united by the common goal of promoting digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation within the Bedouin sector. This initiative is an integral part of the international VOLCANIC project (Israel, Morocco, Europe), a collaborative effort involving the MOFET Institute, Kaye College, and Sapir College in Israel, focusing on reducing digital disparities, with a particular emphasis on the Bedouin sector and geographically remote populations.

The day commenced with a thought-provoking expert panel on "Digital Gaps in Israel: Challenges and Opportunities in the Bedouin Sector." The highlight of the study day was an in-depth look at the unique and innovative courses developed within the Volcanic project. Participants gained insights into content that integrates entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as practical methods for promoting meaningful learning through technology. Models and tools designed to equip participants with the essential skills for the digital age were also presented.

Following a light lunch and a productive networking session, attendees had the opportunity to "hear firsthand" – a direct engagement with students and teachers who had participated in the project's various courses. They shared their experiences, insights from collaborative learning, and the program's impact on their professional and personal development.

Please welcome the opening event:
**Waqt al-Naqab | Negev Time**

The Rosenfeld Contemporary Art Gallery is hosting the Desert Stars association in an exhibition created in collaboration with the art training program of the college:

**Waqt al-Naqab | Negev Time**

Over 300,000 Bedouins live in the south of the country. About two-thirds reside in permanent settlements, cities, and towns, while one-third live in unrecognized villages scattered throughout the Negev. Far from view, far from the heart, and far from the decision-makers, Bedouin society is slowly moving towards modernity. One foot is rooted in conservatism and tradition, while the other steps towards progress, education, and Western culture.

This exhibition reveals, even if only slightly, the life of a society that is present yet absent in the general Israeli consciousness. It showcases the joy of childhood, herding sheep, colorful and large-scale wedding events, and frequent encounters with law enforcement.

The artists featured in the exhibition blend staged scenes with documentary documentation alongside long-standing traditions. Their works gaze directly at reality, presenting it in all its layers and complexities. Against the backdrop of increasing violence, discrimination, excessive policing, poverty, and deprivation, stand the hospitality, patience, modesty, tranquility, joy of life, and the stoic calm of men and women, young and old.

The participating artists, almost all Bedouins from the Negev, reveal both their personal world and the world around them.

View photos from last Thursday, when the Regev program( the Excellence Program), as part of the "Multicultural Entrepreneurship" course, visited the Ethiopian Beta village in Kiryat G*t.**

The Regev group consists of students from various cultures. This diversity allows them to learn from each other and explore cultural diversity and multicultural initiatives in Israeli society.

In the course, they met researchers who specialize in or promote multiculturalism (e.g., Professor Sarab Abu Ravia) and visited various places representing different cultures, such as the Negev Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art in Be'er Sheva.

The highlight was this week when they went to experience Ethiopian culture. During the fascinating visit, they heard the personal story of the entrepreneur who founded the place, learned about her immigration to Israel as a young girl, participated in an Ethiopian dance workshop, and engaged in an authentic cooking workshop.

The discussions that emerged during the visit led them to ponder the uniqueness, similarities, and differences between the culture of the group members and Ethiopian culture.
The educational tour sparked many questions and thoughts about what differentiates and unites Israeli society.
