KLA company from Migdal Haemek is proud to announce the 2019-2020 Merit Scholarship Program!

Graduate students from Electrooptics and Photonics Engineering Department at Ben Gurion University are welcome to apply.

During the academic year, the fellows will be invited to KLA's offices in Migdal Haemek to present the'r research, and to have tours at the company.

In addition, KLA will provide scholarships for students from the Faculty of Engineering who conduct a research on optics-related topics, such as: optoelectronics, lasers, image processing, algorithms light signals, and so on.

KLA encourages academic excellence!

Pioneering work of Dr. Karabchevsky, published in Scientific Reports reports on the detection of molecular vibrations overtones under evanescent near-infrared radiation in glass waveguides. The findings of this research, which appeared February 18 in Scientific Reports, bear both fundamental and practical significance: a diffusive layer rich with organic molecules settled off the solution has been formed at the surface of the waveguide. This layer is responsible for the switch from ballistic to diffusive propagation of near-infrared radiation in the waveguide and the giant absorption detected. Compared to the demonstrated detection of N-Methylaniline on planar integrated optical component, ring resonator or microtapered fiber the system reported in this research, achieved dramatically stronger absorption signal of amine overtone at around 1.5 um wavelength that harnesses cheap waveguide fabrication procedure optimised for NIR (telecommunication) wavelengths.

Vibrational overtone spectroscopy of molecules is a powerful tool for drawing information on molecular structure and dynamics. It relies on absorption of near infrared radiation (NIR) by molecular vibrations.
