אתמול סיימנו את הכנס Cyber in the World of AI ואת ההאקתון "תחבורה חכמה בעיר חכמה" - יומיים אינטנסיביים, מאורגנים היטב, ורבי-תוכן.
הייתה לי הזכות לשמש כמנחה הפאנל השיפוט ורכז ההאקתון מטעם מחלקת מדעי המחשב במכללת SCE, ולראות מקרוב את העבודה הנהדרת של הסטודנטים משני הקמפוסים.

12 קבוצות הטרוגניות עבדו על שלושה אתגרי סייבר שניתנו על-ידי מערך הסייבר הלאומי, בליווי מנטורים מהאקדמיה ומהתעשייה. התוצרים שהוצגו היום באודיטוריום היו מגוונים, יצירתיים, ומבוססי חשיבה מערכתית וניכר שהושקע בהם מאמץ אמיתי.

תודה למכללה האקדמית להנדסה ע"ש סמי שמעון על ההפקה והאירוח, למערך הסייבר הלאומי על השותפות, ולמנטורים ולחבר השופטים על הזמן ועל המחויבות. תודה גדולה גם לרכזי ההאקתון ולכל המחלקות שתמכו.

ולבסוף, כל הכבוד לסטודנטים. העבודה שלכם ניכרת, והיה מרשים לראות את הדרך שעשיתם מרגע קבלת האתגר ועד להצגת הפתרון. מזל טוב לקבוצות הזוכות, ותודה לכל המשתתפים על אנרגיה מצוינת.

Grateful and proud to have presented our poster at ACL 2025 in Vienna, Austria — one of the world’s leading conferences in Natural Language Processing, with over 3,000 attendees.

Our work explores how psychometric methods can be applied to language models to assess and manipulate latent constructs like anxiety, depression, and sense of coherence.

I am delighted to see the BIRD Foundation highlighting the impactful work of the ICRDE Consortium, as described in this post.
It has been a privilege to be part of such a unique collaboration, where academia and industry come together to address the critical challenge of securing energy infrastructures against cyber threats.

The workshop at Meptagon Group’s offices was truly inspiring, especially the demonstration of the next-generation fuel-blending simulator, which showcases our consortium’s commitment to innovation in energy cybersecurity.
The poster session by Ben-Gurion University students was another highlight, reflecting the consortium's dedication to nurturing future experts who will lead in both the U.S. and Israel.

Thank you to the BIRD Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Israel Ministry of Energy, and all our partners for fostering this remarkable initiative.

I'm thrilled to have recently delivered an invited lecture at the CERT-IL Advanced Cyber Course (CACC-2024), organized by the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and held at Sami Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE), on "AI in Cybersecurity: Enhancing Defense Strategies in the Digital Age"!

During the session, I had the opportunity to share insights on how AI is transforming the cybersecurity landscape, focusing on assisting SOC analysts during alert investigation and prioritization using network science and large language models. The lecture highlighted how AI can improve SOC operations and threat response strategies by leveraging these advanced techniques.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the future of cybersecurity and connect with some of the brightest minds in the field.

It was a pleasure to organize the Israel-U.S. Initiative on Cybersecurity Research and Development for Energy (ICRDE) October 2023 workshop at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA. During the workshop, ICRDE industrial and academic members discussed their research findings, collaborations, and shared ideas and developments toward solutions for the energy industry against cyber threats and attacks.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the ICRDE members who participated in the presentations and guests who participated in the panels and demos, making it an interesting event!
Thanks to our hosts, Arizona State University, for their warm hospitality and our distinguished keynotes: Dr. Gideon Friedmann, Chief Scientist, Israel Ministry of Energy, and Jared Bierbach, Senior International Relations Officer, Office of International Affairs, U.S. Department of Energy for their excellent talks.

Today, I presented a study titled "The chameleon attack: manipulating content display in online social media" at Applied Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) Workshop 2023 at SCE.

In this study, my colleagues and I presented a novel type of online social network (OSN)-based trickery where malicious posts and profiles change how they are displayed to OSN users to conceal themselves before the attack or avoid detection. Using this technique, adversaries can, for example, avoid censorship by concealing true content when it is about to be inspected; acquire social capital to promote new content while piggybacking a trending one; cause embarrassment and serious reputation damage by tricking a victim to like, retweet, or comment a message that he wouldn’t normally do without any indication for the trickery within the OSN.

היום הצגתי מחקר בשם "התקפת זיקית – מניפולצית תצוגת התוכן ברשתות חברתיות" בסדנה IEM 2023 שהתקיימה ב-SCE.
במחקר זה, אני ושותפיי: שגיא עוזיאל, אביגיל פרדייס-ויט ורמי פוזיס הצגנו סוג חדש של התקפה ברשתות חברתיות בה פוסטים ופרופילים זדונים משנים את תצוגתם למשתמשים על מנת להסתיר את עצמם מהמשתמשים (כמו זיקית). באמצעות טכניקה זו, תוקפים יכולים להכנס לקבוצות סגורות, לגרום לשיימינג ופגיעה בכבודו של אדם.
במאמר הצגנו ניסוי שביצענו, סקרנו חולשות ב-7 רשתות חברתיות המאפשרות התקפת זיקית והצגנו דרכים להתמודדות עם התקפה זו.

Yesterday and today SCE Tech Fest 23, the year-end festival, started at Shmoon College of Engineering at Be'er Sheva campus.

The festival takes place between the dates 18-22.6.23, and brings together the graduation events in various departments: engineering, computer science, visual communication, and architecture.

Yesterday, the ICL Challenge was presented as part of the campus hackathon. In this hackathon, the students were divided into heterogeneous groups that include students from the college alongside students from India and Singapore.
Along with the campus hackathon event, there was also a super interesting guest lecture along with the presentation of the final projects in their fourth year.

Congratulations to my students who presented their final project: Stav Sabag, Asaf Kamer, Abed Madi, Maxim Viner, Lior Lidogoster, and Tom Madar.

אתמול והיום החל SCE Tech Fest 23 במכללת סמי שמעון בבאר שבע. SCE TECH FEST הוא פסטיבל סיום השנה של קמפוס באר שבע.

הפסטיבל, המתקיים בין התאריכים 18-22.6.23, מרכז את אירועי סיום שנה"ל תשפ"ג של מסיימי כל השנתונים במחלקות השונות - להנדסה, למדעי המחשב, לתקשורת חזותית ולאדריכלות.

אתמול הוצג ה-Challenge של ICL במסגרת ההאקתון הקמפוסי. בהאקתון זה נחלקו הסטודנטים לקבוצות ההטרגוניות הכוללות סטודנטים מהמכללה לצד סטודנטים מהודו וסינגפור.
לצד אירוע ההאקתון הקמפוסי, התקיימה גם הרצאת אורח סופר מעניינת לצד הצגת פרויקטי הגמר בשנה ד'.
ברכות לסטודנטים שלי שהציגו את פרויקט הגמר שלהם: סתיו סבג, אסף קמר, עבד מאדי, מקסים ויינר, תום מדר וליאור לידוגסטר.

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in an exhibition of technology in the healthcare field as part of a domestic conference, an innovation and research week conference held at the Soroka Medical Center, Beer-Sheva, Israel.
The exhibition included practical tutorials by systems based on natural language processing models, such as ChatGPT while presenting medical scenarios and possible use cases in medicine. The conference guests experienced clinical questions and challenged the chatbot.

שבוע שעבר הייתה לי את ההזדמנות להשתתף בתערכת טכנולוגיות בתחום הבריאות במסגרת כנס חדשנות ומחקר שהתקיים בבית חולים סורוקה בבאר שבע.
התערוכה כללה הדרכות מעשיות ע״י מערכות מבוססות מודלי עיבוד שפה טבעית כדוגמאת ChatGPT תוך הצגת תרחישים רפואיים ושימושים אפשריים בעולמות הרפואה. אורחי הכנס התנסו בפועל בהצגת שאלות קליניות ואתגרו את הצ'ט בוט.
