Ophel Excavations in Jerusalem

A monumental Second Temple-period purification complex has been uncovered near Jerusalem’s “Triple Gate.” ✨
Dating to the early 1st century CE, the complex includes a large pool, a paved courtyard, and three public ritual baths (mikva’ot) — one preserved to its full height of 4.2 meters.
The complex likely served pilgrims on their way to the Temple Mount and remained in use until the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE.
