Come take a virtual look inside the BYU Jerusalem Center! 🔎 This eight-story building was dedicated in 1989, and its striking architecture has been the backdrop for decades of learning, connection, and memories.

MAIN ENTRANCE: The main entrance at the Upper Gate opens onto the 8th floor, where high arched ceilings create a stunning first impression.

AUDITORIUM: This room is the heart of the Center. Sabbath worship services and weekly music concerts are held here. The sound of its 3,165-pipe Danish organ and the breathtaking views of the Old City make this space particularly special.

DORM ROOMS: The Center’s dorm rooms are designed for four students, with each room opening to a private balcony. Each room also includes a bathroom with a double vanity and a shower. For many students, these rooms become the starting point for friendships that last a lifetime.

CLASSROOMS: The Center’s classrooms are bright, welcoming spaces where students dive into their studies. Glass doors open to an outdoor terrace where students can relax, recharge, and enjoy the surroundings between classes.

COMMONS: The Student Commons is a collaborative space for students to study and socialize. It includes three enclosed lounge rooms, a loft, and a student snack shop (often called the “Shekel Shack”).

LAWN: The 7th-floor lawn is another popular gathering place for students, especially for enjoying the sunset views over the Old City.

GRAND STAIRCASE: The grand staircase winds through the core of the Center, connecting all 8 floors and offering beautiful glimpses of the architecture along the way.

LIBRARY: The library is a quiet space to study and read, with thousands of books focused on the Bible, history, archaeology, and the cultures of the Near East.

BIBLICAL GARDENS: The Biblical Gardens feature plants and agricultural elements familiar to ancient Jerusalem. Olive trees, grapevines, an ancient-style olive press, and a Roman-style winepress help bring the setting of the scriptures to life. These gardens provide students a quiet space to reflect and study.

DOME THEATER & FORUM: These are gathering spaces for assemblies, classes, presentations, and special events.

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Multisensory Stimulation (Snoezelen) Room at Al Basma School for Special needs in Beit Hanina, Jerusalem.
The construction of the room, opened on Thursday, September 19, 2024 was made possible through the generous donation of the LDS Charities and The Brigham Young University Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies.
This safe and welcoming space provides autistic children a unique sensory experience, helping to support relaxation, communication, and cognitive development through carefully curated lights, sounds, textures, and interactive features.
The new Snoezelen room at Al Basma school places it as one of the leading institutions for special education in the country.
Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the project
