🌍 Meet IMPH Cohort 51: Julien David Kentish 🇦🇬

Julien David Kentish, from Antigua and Barbuda, is a health leader, Registered Nurse, Chartered Director, and humanitarian whose career spans clinical care, healthcare administration, governance, public service, and community development.

Currently pursuing his International Master of Public Health at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Julien is passionate about strengthening health systems and advancing prevention-focused public health across Small Island Developing States.🌴🏥

His master's research explores a Healthy Family Feeding Programme aimed at reducing childhood obesity by promoting healthy nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life. By equipping healthcare workers and empowering parents with practical feeding knowledge, the programme seeks to foster healthier families from preconception through early childhood.

After graduation, Julien plans to return home to Antigua and Barbuda to help implement innovative public health programmes, strengthen health governance, and contribute to national and regional health policy.

🌍✨ IMPH51 Student Spotlight: Meet Dr. Nkeiruka Blessing Abanaka! 🇳🇬🩺💙

As we continue introducing the inspiring members of , who are completing an intensive and transformative year in the International Master of Public Health (IMPH) program and preparing for graduation this September, we're delighted to introduce Dr. Nkeiruka Blessing Abanaka from Nigeria!

Dr. Abanaka is a Medical Doctor and Public Health Professional with more than a decade of experience in clinical practice and primary health care. Her work has focused on HIV prevention and treatment, tuberculosis care, epidemic outbreak response, and disease control.

🏥 Currently serving as a State Clinical Mentor with Caritas Catholic Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), she supports HIV service delivery, clinical mentorship, public health interventions, and health systems strengthening across healthcare facilities throughout Nigeria.

📚 Through the IMPH program at the Braun School of Public Health, Dr. Abanaka is further strengthening her expertise in public health practice, health systems, and disease prevention. She looks forward to applying these skills to advance healthcare delivery and improve outcomes for communities in Nigeria and beyond.

🌍✨ IMPH Spotlight: Meet Phoebe Koli! 🇺🇬💙

This week, we're proud to highlight Phoebe Koli, from Uganda, another incredible professional from . Phoebe's passion for public health is rooted in empowering communities through effective communication and evidence-based action.

Before joining the IMPH program, Phoebe worked as a Risk Communication Officer at Uganda's Ministry of Health, supporting public health communication and community engagement initiatives. Her experience in the health sector inspired her to pursue the International Master of Public Health, building on her social science background with the technical knowledge needed to create lasting impact.

💡 Phoebe is passionate about global health, health promotion, and health systems strengthening. She is committed to advancing evidence-informed policies and sustainable interventions that improve population health and reduce health inequities, particularly in low-resource settings.

🎓🌍 As we continue introducing the remarkable members of IMPH51, who are wrapping up an intense and transformative year in the International Master of Public Health (IMPH) program and preparing for graduation this September, we're excited to introduce you to Dr. Ashley Lang’at!

🩺🐄🌱Originally from Kenya, Ashley's journey exemplifies the power of One Health. Ashley earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi and has built an impressive career spanning veterinary medicine, public health research, and the pharmaceutical industry. Her work at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) on zoonotic disease surveillance and antimicrobial resistance strengthened her commitment to advancing health at the human-animal-environment interface.

Most recently, Ashley served as Veterinary Factory Supervisor at Highchem East Africa Limited, while collaborating with researchers, public health stakeholders, and local communities to promote health equity and strengthen health systems—particularly in underserved communities.

💡 Ashley is passionate about the One Health approach, recognizing that the health of people, animals, and the environment are deeply interconnected. Through the IMPH program, she hopes to lead multisectoral initiatives that build healthier, more resilient communities and address emerging public health challenges.

✨ Meet Kate Kankhadze ✨

🇲🇼 Kate is making history as the first female student from Malawi to join the International Master of Public Health (IMPH).

💙 Her passion for public health began while working as a Nutrition Officer at a district hospital in rural Malawi, where she witnessed the impact of cholera outbreaks, endemic malaria, and the devastating effects of malnutrition on vulnerable communities. These experiences inspired her to look beyond individual patient care and focus on improving health at the population level. 🏥🌱

📚 Studying alongside colleagues from around the world has broadened Kate's understanding of health systems, policies, and the complex challenges facing global public health today. 🤝🌎

✨ Being part of IMPH 51 and studying in Jerusalem—a place she had long dreamed of visiting—has been both exciting and transformative. Kate is grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and be part of such a diverse international community. 🇮🇱💫

✨ Meet Albert Leonard Dikoume Ndoumbe ✨

Albert is a medical doctor and public health professional from Cameroon with extensive experience in humanitarian and resource-limited settings.

Before joining the IMPH, Albert served as an Assistant Medical Coordinator with ALIMA, supporting health and nutrition programs across Cameroon. His work focused on emergency response, maternal and child health, disease surveillance, and strengthening health systems in conflict-affected and underserved communities. 🏥📊

Working in Makary, Mokolo, and Cameroon’s North-West and South-West regions, Albert witnessed firsthand the challenges of healthcare delivery in fragile settings. These experiences fueled his commitment to public health leadership and evidence-based solutions that expand access to quality care. 🌱

At the Braun School of Public Health, Albert is strengthening his expertise in epidemiology, health policy, and program evaluation to help build more resilient and equitable health systems around the world. 🌍📚
