pportunities for Notre Dame to engage the world and the world to engage Notre Dame through scholarly collaboration, undergraduate and graduate study, as well as cooperative programs with governments, foundations, corporations, alumni, parents, and friends of the University. The University of Notre Dame at Tantur (UNDT) was introduced in 2018, unifying and facilitating the academic initiatives of the Tantur Ecumenical Institute (TEI) and the Jerusalem Global Gateway (JGG) on behalf of the University’s efforts in the Holy Land. Since 1985, undergraduate students from Notre Dame have studied in the Holy Land and lived at Tantur. The undergraduate program was formalized in 2014 through the establishment of the JGG, and today the undergraduate program is a flagship program of the University of Notre Dame at Tantur. Other programs facilitated through UNDT include faculty research, academic conferences and workshops for Notre Dame faculty, international scholars and local collaborators, sabbatical opportunities, and partnerships building and joint research opportunities with regional universities, faith-based institutions, and NGOs. The University of Notre Dame at Tantur is one of eleven global locations led by Notre Dame International. Learn more about our projects: https://jerusalem.nd.edu/programs/

It is remarkable to see the level of Arabic our students are able to speak after one year!

📚 Arabi Weekend is our year-long Arabic language program. It focuses on spoken Arabic and is designed for working professionals who are eager to learn the language and gain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of the local Arabic culture.

Earlier this month, we proudly celebrated the conclusion of the program’s third cohort with an intimate gathering in the beautiful gardens of Tantur Campus.

The University of Notre Dame - Notre Dame Jerusalem was honored to celebrate the launch of Sari Nusseibeh’s latest book, The Scout- Philosophy and Us, an especially meaningful occasion given his longstanding relationship with our community.

The evening brought together academics, students, and members of the wider Jerusalem community for a thoughtful discussion of the book’s central themes, including philosophy, identity, and the complexities of life in this region. The panel conversation and audience exchange reflected the spirit of rigorous inquiry and respectful dialogue that lies at the heart of our university’s mission.

We are grateful to Professor Nusseibeh for sharing this milestone with us and to all those who joined us for an evening of rich conversation, followed by a book signing and reception. We look forward to many more opportunities to engage with ideas that challenge, inspire, and bring people together. 📚✨

Thank you to the panelists, Prof. RAEF ZREIK and Dr. Rodayna Ghanim. A special thank you to the Educational Bookshop for collaborating on this event, especially to Mahmoud Muna for moderation.

The William J. Shaw Center for Children and Families and Notre Dame Jerusalem are proud to showcase the important work of Prof. Laura Miller-Graff and Prof. Mark Cummings on Promoting Positive Family Futures, a family-based intervention designed to strengthen communication, well-being, and resilience among Palestinian parents and adolescents.

“We're really dedicated to long-term engagement with community partners,” Miller-Graff says. “Funding comes and goes, but the work is always there and needs to be done.”

Developed over a decade in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services and the Palestinian Counseling Center, the program has evolved through multiple pilot studies and close community feedback, leading to important cultural adaptations that have significantly improved engagement and participation.

Palm Sunday is the moment when the global Church turns its attention to the small Christian community in the Holy Land.🌿

There is no need to romanticize or instrumentalize this community. Nor is there any reason for the global Church to feel hesitant about caring for it as for brothers and sisters in faith, especially these days. People here need you.

At the same time, there is no contradiction between caring for one’s own community and caring for one’s neighbors and fellow global citizens. Both belong together.

The image was taken in the Tantur chapel✝️ . We wish our friends and partners a blessed Holy Week.
