Hebrew is more than just vocabulary.
When we teach Hebrew, we teach more than just words.
Students may forget vocabulary.
They may forget grammatical rules.
But often, they remember something far more important.
A song.
A poem.
A story.
A conversation.
A meaningful experience.
Teaching Hebrew has the potential to connect students with a history, a culture, and a community that stays with them long after they leave the classroom.
How can we train teachers capable of creating that kind of connection?
The Specialization in Teaching Hebrew as a Second Language—part of the International Master’s Program in Jewish Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem—combines language instruction with the pedagogical tools needed to give it meaning.
