๐Ÿ• Heritage, tourism, and management challenges โ€“ a field visit to Magdala!
Students in the MA program, as part of the Managing Religious Heritage Tourism course led by Dr. Hila Zaban, explored the unique archaeological site of Magdala โ€“ home to a first-century synagogue and managed by the Catholic Church, near the town of Migdal.
During the visit, students heard from Father Kelly, one of the siteโ€™s managing priests, about the site's significance to Christian communities worldwide and the day-to-day work with international pilgrimage tourism. They also met with Mr. Maroun Edward-Issa, General Manager of the on-site hotel, who shared insights into the opportunities and challenges of managing a hospitality facility within a religious heritage complex serving a wide range of visitors โ€“ from pilgrims to local tourists.
๐Ÿ“š A learning experience where heritage, management, and culture meet โ€“ this is where academia comes to life.
