The Migdal Oz Beit Midrash is built on the conviction that the world of Torah and limmud are means through which each student can blossom and deepen her connection to Hashem. Migdal Oz is geared towards students who are seeking to grow spiritually and intellectually in a warm community of thoughtful, passionate and idealistic women from Israel and abroad. We believe that the Beit Midrash is a place where today’s women can forge their own personal connection to their avodat Hashem and develop their Torah personalities, yirat shamayim, halachic commitment, and national identity. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women, headed by the dynamic educator and scholar, Rabbanit Esti Rozenberg, was established in 1997 by Yeshivat Har Etzion under the leadership of the late Roshei Yeshiva Rav Aharon Lichtenstein Zt”l and Rav Yehuda Amital Zt”l . Their colleagues, Rav Baruch Gigi, Rav Yaakov Medan and Rav Mosheh Lichtenstein, continue to teach in Migdal Oz and to offer guidance and educational expertise on an ongoing basis.

How does one choose a name for a WhatsApp group?
For our new program - a remote Kollel Iyun Gemara for women - we named the WhatsApp group ״הרחיבי מקום אהלך״ (“Harchivi mekom oholech”, Yeshayahu 54:2)
This Pasuk was in the Haftara this past Shabbat, and we find its idea deeply moving.
‘Harchivi mekom oholech’ means expanding your reach. In our program, that vision truly comes to life. Women who are Talmidot Chachamim, with a serious, deep background in Torah learning, are gathering from Kiryat Shmona to the hills of the Shomron for Gemara Iyun at the highest level. They learn on Zoom, studying Masechet Bava Batra alongside Rav Nechemia Ra’anan, Rabbanit Naomi Adler, and Rabbanit Tzvia Bahat. The goal is to cultivate the next generation of female educators and teachers - those who will take this Torah and scholarship and pass it forward to their local communities.
Seeing the walls of the Beit Midrash expand like this - there is truly nothing more moving. 📖✨

This morning, we gathered to mark October 7th with a talk by Rabbanit Naama Sat, from Kibbutz Saad in the Otef.

Hallel, a first-year student, spoke about her cousins- Aner Shapira, who fell while defending the bomb shelter, and Yuval Shoham, who fell in battle in Gaza. She spoke about how important it is to keep talking and sharing their stories.

Mehola, the mother of Rini Zigdon, who was murdered at the Nova festival, spoke about what comes after such a loss. She shared her choice to choose life and move forward, and how that can only happen thanks to the people around her- family, friends, and even people who didn’t know them, who just come and listen. She also talked about faith, and finding hope and renewal even through the pain.
