Israel at War- The Helmsley Medical Simulation Center

The Helmsley Medical Simulation Center is offering free expedited trauma training to security forces and medical corps operating in northern Israel, to ensure preparedness for emergency situations we may face.
Our students, as always, are actively involved in numerous service initiatives on behalf of individuals and the community and the IDF. Here is one moving example: our nursing student Ella Abu Hamda has been actively mobilizing the Druze population in the north in support of IDF soldiers. Thousands of warm meals are prepared daily in Druze villages, and thousands of food packages and hygiene items are distributed by volunteers throughout the region and the country.

Zefat Academic College Celebrates a Remarkable Achievement! 🎓

We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Rabia Khalaila, our esteemed Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Higher Committee for the Appointment of Professors at the Higher Education Council has just announced that Prof. Khalaila will ascend to the prestigious rank of full professor.

This is not just a personal triumph; it's a historic milestone for Zefat Academic College. Prof. Khalaila has not only retained his rank but also secured his place as the first academic staff member to embark on his journey with us as a lecturer in 2009. Through unwavering dedication and commitment, he has ascended the ranks within the college to assume the crucial role of Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Recently, a ceremony was held to award scholarships to Druze students in collaboration between The Rothberg family foundation and the Galila foundation. The Rothberg Foundation representative, Jacob (Yankele) Rimer, along with Yael Barlev (CEO of Galila), Shlomi Ben Non (CEO of the College), Shay Srugo (Head of Academic Management), and Dorit Partobi (Dean of Students) awarded the scholarships.
Shlomi Ben Nun expressed the importance of empowering Druze students at the Zefat Academic College, given the close link between Druze and Israeli society. The Galila Foundation immediately supported the idea and hopes that those who complete the program will become ambassadors for the college and the state of Israel.

The University of Timisoara in Romania awarded Zefat Academic College an Erasmus+ grant for an EU-funded student and faculty exchange program from 2023–2026.
The Erasmus+ program is the European Union's flagship program for promoting education systems in countries outside the EU. The program offers support for the mobility of students and lecturers who wish to study and teach at a higher education institution in one of the EU countries.
Zefat Academic College has already won the Erasmus+ scholarship three times. In 2017 ZAC marked its first win (with KDG University in Belgium). The second time was in 2020 (Buchum University in Germany), this award comes from the West University of Timisoara in Romania and is for the academic years 2020–2023. It grants a student a scholarship (for one semester) and a professor (for a teaching period of one week).
After submitting our formal request, colleagues in Romania informed the College that the European Union approved the request for funding the collaboration.
As part of the scholarship, the chosen student will be awarded full tuition and all of the travel costs. The courses in which the student will participate are recognized by Zefat Academic College as part of the bachelor's degree curriculum.

As the holiday season approaches, we would like to recognize and celebrate Hanukkah.
Hanukkah is a holiday that commemorates the mythology of the light vs. darkness, based upon the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem over 2,000 years ago. It is a time of celebration, reflection, and the coming together of friends and family.
During Hanukkah, it is traditional to light the menorah, exchange gifts, and enjoy festive meals. It is also a time to remember and honor the values of courage, determination, and faith.

We hope that this Hanukkah brings light, joy, and meaning to all of our lives. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Hanukkah.

Almost every lone veteran struggles with the absence of financial support, personal guidance and mentors, insufficient professional and governmental backing and lack of experience and understanding of the Israeli bureaucracy, education system, and the job market. It takes a heavy toll on the lone veterans, leading many of them to leave Israel and, in extreme circumstances, experience emotional crises.

Zefat Academic College intends to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, the challenges of the lone soldier as they transition into a lone veteran status and become Israeli civilians, with The Comprehensive Program for Lone Veterans - an innovative program aimed to increase their capacity and well-being, by that enhancing those of the Israeli society as a whole.
