לפני 30 שנה בדיוק, הוציאו חוה אלברשטיין ובן זוגה אז נדב לוויתן ז"ל את "מוקדם מדי לשתוק, מאוחר מדי לשיר", סרט תעודי שמהווה רגע מפנה בהתייחסות ליידיש בישראל. בתבונה, באומץ וברגישות, הגיעו היוצרים אל יוצרי היידיש העצומים שחיו אז והצליחו להחזיר אותם לתודעה ממש ברגע האחרון.

לציון שלושים שנה, התקיימה הקרנה במוזיאון "אנו" לסרט בהנחיית פרופ' חנה פולין גלאי ובהשתתפות חווה אלברשטיין, שהייתה הצלחה עצומה. העולם המה נוכחים, וכשחוה שרה, הקהל הצטרף ומחה דמעה.

‏"אין צורך לנסות לנבא את העתיד של היידיש. מה שחשוב זה היידיש כאן ועכשיו", אמרה חוה אלברשטיין בשיחה. "בואו נעריך את זה". הלוואי ויהיו ליידיש עוד רגעים יפים כאלה.
