As part of the City Economic Development Studio for Semester 03, students of the Master’s in Urban Management are attending a guest lecture on “How Cities Should Approach Economic Development,” led by led by Anshika Gupta, Director, Capital Projects & Infrastructure, PwC India.

The session will draw on experiences of working with cities as engines of growth, from research and thought leadership to piloting initiatives, developing economic plans for city regions, and providing strategic advisory support to state governments.

Our recent guest lecture featured a presentation by Ms. Anna Roy, Senior Official, NITI Aayog, on the City Economic Region (CER) Initiative, also known as the Growth Hub Initiative, and its vision for strengthening the global positioning of Indian cities by 2047.

She outlined a five-step framework for city-level economic planning, covering baseline analysis, long-term aspirations, SWOT analysis, growth drivers, and project formulation. The discussion also highlighted the need for proactive planning, institutional mechanisms, and empowered urban governance systems. The lecture gave students valuable insights into city-level economic planning, urban governance, and the strategic frameworks shaping India’s future growth hubs.

This semester, students in the Masters’ in Real Estate (MRE) and Masters’ in Urban Management (MUM) programmes are exploring a range of courses that bring together different perspectives shaping infrastructure, organizations and cities.

As part of the mandatory course this semester on Contracts and Law, we’re conducting a guest lecture on “Contract & Law in Real Estate,” led by Ms. Trusha K. Patel, Senior Advocate, High Court.

With a legal practice primarily focused on land matters, Ms. Patel joined the High Court Bar in 1999 and has since served as an Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor before the High Court. She has also served as standing counsel for the High Court, District Courts, the Union of India, NCTE and UPSC. In January 2024, she was designated as a Senior Advocate.

We look forward to an informative session on the legal considerations shaping real estate practice.
