Marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration between NID Bengaluru and IAF AFFWA (R), Training Command, a special visit for the Sanginis of Bengaluru was organised at NID Bengaluru on 9 June 2026.
The visit offered an engaging introduction to the world of design, highlighting how creativity, empathy, and innovation can be applied to solve everyday challenges. Through interactions with faculty and tours of the institute’s facilities, participants gained insights into design as a powerful problem-solving approach and explored the diverse disciplines offered at NID.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Susanth C.S., Dean, NID Bengaluru, and Ms. Jagriti Galphade, Faculty, NID Bengaluru, who provided an overview of the institute’s three campuses, academic offerings, design philosophy, and collaborative work culture. Through examples of projects and initiatives undertaken by NID, they highlighted the role of design in addressing real-world challenges and creating meaningful impact across domains. The delegation was led by Mrs. Sunita Srinivas, President, Air Force Families Welfare Association (Regional), Bangalore, Training Command, and Mrs. Sharmila Pense, Vice-President, AFFWA.
The Sanginis expressed keen interest in NID’s work across various sectors and were particularly delighted to learn about NID’s contribution to designing the invitation for the “At Home” reception hosted by Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with Mrs. Sunita Srinivas sharing that an MoU between AFFWA and NID Bengaluru is expected to be formalised soon, paving the way for a range of creative and capacity-building initiatives for the Sanginis.
