Institute of Science was established in 2004 under the aegis of Nirma University with the intent of providing quality education to post-graduate students whose career objectives go beyond academics. The Institute offers the Master of Science in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Microbiology) and provides broad training encompassing science, business, and ethics to students enab

ling them to explore wide career opportunities. The Alumni are well placed in Bio-pharma companies like Reliance Life Science, TCS Life sciences, Ranbaxy Ltd, Quintais, India, Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Intas Biopharmaceuticals and Zydus Cadila etc. in reputed Research Institutions in India and abroad (Europe, USA, Canada and Australia). The Institute has professionally qualified and experienced permanent faculty members with expertise in various areas of Biological Sciences. programme in various areas of Biology e.g., Immunology, Genetic Engineering, Protein Folding, Cytogenetic, Neurobiology, Agriculture and Industrial Microbiology, Physiology to name few. Through recognized research centres Ph.D. programmes in the areas of Physical Sciences are also offered. A balanced mix of academicians and professionals with rich academic and research experience contributes to the Institute’s academic excellence. The quality and progress of the Institute is coordinated and ensured by Institute of Science Advisory Committee (ISAC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Institute.

Anti-Ragging Week 2026: Poster Competition

The Institute of Science, Nirma University, organized an Anti-Ragging Poster Making Competition - “Art Against Ragging” on August 14th, 2026 as part of Anti-Ragging Week 2026. The event provided an opportunity for our students to express their creativity and share meaningful messages promoting respect, inclusion, dignity, and a safe and ragging-free campus. Overall, 13 MSc and PhD students participated in the competition, bringing forward their unique ideas and perspectives through art and powerful anti-ragging messages. A heartfelt appreciation to all the participating students for their enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to promoting a positive campus culture

Faculty Achievement, Institute of Science, Nirma University:

🏆 Global Recognition

Dr Shruti Chatterjee, faculty member at Institute of Science, Nirma University received the International Travel Award to present her research work titled: “Attenuation of Virulence in Multidrug-Resistant Vibrio cholerae by Chlorella variabilis Lipids: Implications for Microalgal Formulation Development” at the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Medical Sciences Program (USJCMSP) Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 23–26 June 2026. This prestigious travel award which is jointly conferred by Gates Foundation and International Vaccine Institute (IVI), Korea, is a remarkable global recognition for her contributions to infectious disease research. Dr Chatterjee is one of the thirteen recipients selected worldwide for their outstanding research.

🌟 Another Prestigious Milestone

Adding to this accomplishment, Dr Chatterjee has also been selected by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, to serve as a mentor for Ms. Teresia Mutindi Kimeu, a PhD scholar from Kyoto University, Japan for a tenure of 1 year. This appointment under this distinguished program reflects international recognition of her expertise and commitment to nurturing the next generation of researchers in infectious diseases and host–pathogen interactions.
