St. Thomas HSS Observes 12th International Yoga Day

St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona proudly celebrated its 34th Institution Day by organising an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Goa Police Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) and Mapusa Police Station, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing responsible, disciplined and socially conscious students.

The occasion also witnessed the installation of the Prahari Club, Disaster Management Club, National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC), Red Ribbon Club, Eco Club and Consumer Club, with the oath of commitment administered by Principal Mrs. Angelica Fernandes.

The programme was graced by Manager Rev. Fr. Roxy Fernandes, Principal Mrs. Angelica Fernandes, PSI Shri Dindayalnath Redkar (Anti Narcotic Cell, Panaji), PSI Ms. Raveena Sawtodkar (Mapusa Police Station), ASI Shri Ajay Gaonkar, LPC Ms. Sneha Mayekar, Ms. Bhavya Gaonkar, and Police Constables Shri Kishan Mandrekar and Shri Rohit Naik of the Anti Narcotic Cell.

Addressing the students, Rev. Fr. Roxy Fernandes highlighted the importance of value-based education and building a healthy, drug-free society. PSI Shri Dindayalnath Redkar conducted an insightful awareness session on the harmful effects of drugs, smoking and alcohol, inspiring students with the message: “Drugs Drag You Down – Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs.” PSI Ms. Raveena Sawtodkar sensitised students on personal safety, responsible behaviour, traffic rules and the importance of being law-abiding citizens.

The programme was compered by Mrs. Alice Mathias, while the overall coordination was carried out by Shri Amarnath Panjikar, Tr. Josephine D’Souza, Sr. Daryl Abranches, along with the club in-charges and the teaching faculty.

A meaningful celebration that strengthened the institution’s commitment to leadership, discipline, social responsibility and a Drug-Free Goa.

The 12th International Day of Yoga was observed with great enthusiasm at St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, under the guidance of Physical Education Teacher Shri R.J. Vijaykumar.

The programme witnessed active participation from the Principal, Ms. Angelica Fernandes, along with students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle.

Participants performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, reaffirming their commitment to incorporating yoga into their daily lives for overall health and wellness.
