Fit India week begins at the Department of Business Administration, AMU. ALIGARH, January 24: The Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University, has begun a week-long Fit India Week aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle among students and faculty members.

The programme commenced with a yoga session focusing on flexibility, concentration and stress relief, followed by a Fit Walk from Babe Syed Gate to Centenary Gate, which saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. Fitness-related activities will be held daily from 10:30 am to 11:30 am during break hours throughout the week.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest, Prof. Rafiuddin, Dean Students’ Welfare, stressed that regular physical activity is essential for a healthy body, focused mind and balanced academic life, and appreciated the Department for sustaining the initiative as an annual event. Proctor Prof. Wasim Ali also joined the activities and encouraged students to adopt fitness as a way of life.

Prof. Mohd. Naved Khan, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance between academic excellence and personal well-being. Earlier, Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department, underlined the role of such initiatives in stress reduction, improved health and strengthening social bonding.

The strong participation reflected a shared commitment towards fitness and holistic well-being.

The Department of Business Administration hosted a lively Freshers’ party, Jashn-e-Aghaaz, on Wednesday, September 24th (2025) at the Akhil Bansal Amphitheater, to officially welcome the newest members of the Faculty of Management Science and Research. The event rightly delivered on its promise of a memorable and warm welcome filled with laughter and fun. The senior students put together an amazing event that turned all the nervous energy to the biggest smiles. The magnificent event which was hosted by Manal Tehsin and Arham Ullah Khan, commenced with the introductory remarks by Mohd. Faraz, who, in a very fun manner, through puns and poetry, shared the insights of the department to the new batch.

Following the formal welcome, the atmosphere shifted to pure enjoyment, the evening was packed with numerous games, and a wave of enthusiasm hit the entire venue as the game of Dumb Charades began. And it was not just the beginning of a game, but of an unforgettable evening of pure bliss. The energy escalated higher with the ‘Pick-a-Dare’ challenge which aimed to hunt the daredevils in the audience. The evening was a powerhouse of fun activities designed to encourage active participation and teamwork. A highlight of the evening was the much anticipated Mr. And Ms. Freshers, which provided the newcomers to showcase their personality, confidence and hidden talents, receiving loud cheers from their peers. The title of ‘Mr. Freshers’ was awarded to Asnad Zaidi, while Afeefa Ahmad was crowned ‘Ms. Freshers’.

Moving further, the event slipped into a beautiful performance by Arham Ullah Khan, which brought the faculty and students to bond even stronger, emotionally. After which Prof. Salma Ahmad, Chairperson of the department, imparted her wisdom to the students and extended the warmest welcome to the freshers.

This followed award distribution ceremony for Anti-ragging Poster Making competition, in which Tanya Saxena secured first position under the category of ‘Handmade Posters’, Warisha Zaheer secured first position under the category ‘Digital Poster’, and Areena Alam was awarded with ‘Judges Special Prize’ for the same. She also recieved an award for the Entrepreneurship Sensitizing Workshop Quiz. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Ayan Shariq appreciating the efforts of the organisers and participation of the freshers, succeeded by Dinner.

[Aligarh, UP]: The Department of Business Administration (DBA), on September 25th, 2025, as per the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs directives, Government of India, took part in the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign and gathered to promote awareness about the paramount significance of hygiene and cleanliness.

The programme included a comprehensive cleaning of the departmental premises. Not only this, individual hygiene was also emphasised (aprons, masks, gloves and caps were distributed to ensure the same). This initiative reflects department’s broader vision of producing not just knowledgeable graduates but also responsible and community oriented citizens.

Facilitated by Prof. Salma Ahmad, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, the SHRAMDAAN-‘Ek Din, Ek Ghant, Ek Saath’ fostered enthusiastic participation from faculty and the students. The effort aligns with the national mission to promote a cleaner India and underscores the department’s commitment to holistic development.

As Rachel Carson rightly said, “In nature, nothing exists alone.” This initiative is a step towards installing a lasting sense of civic duty and environmental consciousness among future business leaders. By participating in this campaign, the Department of Business Administration is setting a powerful example, demonstrating that academic excellence and social responsibility go hand in hand. The students of the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University, participated in the National Practicum Competition held at Christ University, Delhi, on 15th September 2025. A total of six students represented the institute under the guidance of the Chairperson, Prof. Salma Ahmed. The participants were: Safdar Khan, who completed his internship at Travclan; Arsalan Haq, who interned at IMCS; Manaal Tehsin, who interned at TeleCRM; Arham Ullah Khan, who worked with Powergrid; Mohd Arish, who pursued his internship at ITC; and Mohd Adam, who also completed his internship with ITC.

The competition required each participant to present their summer internship work in front of an esteemed panel and an audience that included students and faculty from institutions across India. All six students gave confident and well-structured presentations, showcasing the knowledge and practical exposure they had gained during their internships.

The event witnessed healthy competition, and it was a proud moment for AMU when both the first and second prizes were bagged by DBA students. Safdar Khan won the first prize for his presentation on his internship at Travclan, while Arsalan Haq secured the second prize for his internship work with IMCS. The recognition brought immense pride to the department and highlighted the capability and dedication of the students.

The entire experience proved to be enriching for all participants, giving them exposure to diverse learning approaches and networking opportunities with peers from other reputed institutes. The hospitality at Christ University was excellent, and special thanks are due to Dr. Karikeya Singh, professor at Christ University, who extended great support and guidance to the visiting team throughout the event.

Overall, the competition was not only a moment of achievement for the prize winners but also a valuable learning experience for every participant. It strengthened the confidence of the students and showcased the strong academic and practical foundation provided by the Department of Business Administration, AMU.

To mark World Entrepreneurs’ Day, the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized an Entrepreneurship Sensitizing Workshop at the J.N. Medical College Auditorium. The event encouraged students to translate innovative ideas into impactful ventures and provided valuable insights into the entrepreneurial journey.The Chief Patron of the workshop was AMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon.

Chief Guest, Dr. M. Mobarak Hossain, Retd. Professor, Faculty of Medicine, highlighted that entrepreneurship is about solving real problems with innovation, ethics, and inclusivity. Guest of Honour, Prof. Aftab Alam, Dean, Faculty of International Studies, urged students to see failure as a stepping stone to success and reminded them that entrepreneurs are opportunity creators.

Keynote speaker, Mr. Sushil Kumar Aggarwal, Chairman, AVRO India Ltd., introduced the concept of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), and emphasized discipline, focus, and four guiding principles: Care, Share, Fair, and Dare. Dr. Lata Rani, Head, Department of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, discussed government schemes, stressing women empowerment and job creation.

In his address, Dr. Asif Ali Syed, Organizing Secretary, encouraged students with the thought: “The future belongs to the dreamers and the doers.”

Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department, welcomed participants and highlighted that nearly 200 students from Management, Engineering, Commerce, Arts, Law, Unani Medicine and Social Sciences attended the programme.

Prof. Valeed A. Ansari underlined the role of entrepreneurship in resilience and value creation, while Prof. Feza Tabassum Azmi emphasized passion and persistence as keys to success.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Ms. Sania Khan, while Ms. Rushda Kalim proposed the Vote of Thanks.

ALIGARH, August 25: The Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized an Orientation Programme for newly admitted MBA students to welcome the incoming batch and familiarize them with the department’s vision, curriculum, resources, and opportunities.

Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the department, welcomed the students, urging them to pursue their academic journey with dedication and introducing the faculty and support staff who will guide them throughout their studies.

Prof. Jamal A. Farooquie provided a detailed overview of the curriculum and ordinances, highlighting the academic framework and evaluation methods. Prof. Valeed Ahmad Ansari addressed the students on learning resources and the mentor-mentee scheme, emphasizing the importance of academic support and guidance.

Dr Asif Ali Syed spoke on “Go Beyond Classrooms - Extra-Curricular Activities,” encouraging students to participate actively in holistic development opportunities. Prof. Feza Tabassum Azmi discussed the significance of industry internships, while Dr Asad Rehman elaborated on placement opportunities and career readiness.

Senior students, Ms. Fatima Intekhab and Mr. Umam Siddiqui, shared their experiences and provided practical advice to the newcomers. The programme was compered by Dr Zareen Husain Farooq, and Dr LamayBin Sabir delivered the vote of thanks.

As part of the event, and in observance of Anti-Ragging Awareness Week, an interactive collaborative activity was conducted where seniors and juniors worked together on craft projects to promote awareness and foster a spirit of harmony and respect.
