🌿 The Most Rev. Dr. M. Ezra Sargunam Memorial Lecture – 2025 🌿
📍 Held at Allahabad Bible Seminary on 22nd September 2025

The Most Rev. Dr. M. Ezra Sargunam Memorial Lecture was held with great devotion and respect at Allahabad Bible Seminary to remember and celebrate the life, ministry, and legacy of Father Bishop Ezra Sargunam — a great servant of God, visionary leader, and missionary bishop of the Evangelical Church of India.

🕊️ The program was conducted in two sessions.
In the first session, Rev. Dr. Paul Sigamony led the program, and Rev. Dr. Sanjay Kumar shared the purpose of the lecture.
Our respected Principal, Rev. Dr. Tapas Ghosh, delivered the first memorial lecture and highlighted Bishop Sargunam’s dedication to the Gospel, his passion for evangelism, and his fight against injustice and caste discrimination. He reminded everyone that the Christian mission is a mission of justice, compassion, and transformation.

After that, Rev. Johnjebadurai S. presented a PowerPoint on the life and ministry of Bishop Sargunam, showing his inspiring journey and contributions to the church and society.

In the second session, led by Rev. Vivek Mathews, Rev. Dr. Amit Thomas gave a powerful lecture on the theme “Father Bishop M. Ezra Sargunam: A Man after God’s own Heart – A Missionary, Visionary, and Liberation Theologian.” He spoke about Bishop Sargunam’s missionary heart, his social concern, and his lifelong commitment to uplifting the poor, Dalits, tribals, and minorities.

Students also took part in group discussions on topics like “Contemporary Challenges in Church Planting” and “The Anti-Conversion Bill,” showing great interest and concern for the church’s mission today.

The program concluded with a prayer led by Rev. Dr. V. Baby Sigamony.
🙏 It was a meaningful and inspiring event that reminded everyone to carry forward the vision and mission of Father Bishop Ezra Sargunam with faith, courage, and love.

The session was moderated by Mr. Pamreishang Vashum, Faculty of ABS, and the paper was presented by Dr. Lian Muan Kham Suante, Faculty member of ABS.

Dr. Suante shared deep insights on how the natural imagery in Matthew 6:25–34 can be understood from an Indigenous Mizo perspective, highlighting the values of simplicity, contentment, and harmony with creation. The presentation encouraged everyone to reflect on the importance of living with sufficiency rather than excess, as taught by Jesus.

The seminar was enriching and thought-provoking, giving both faculty and students an opportunity to explore the connection between biblical teaching and indigenous wisdom.

On 29th July 2025, Allahabad Bible Seminary organized a meaningful Faculty and Student Seminar on the topic:
“Antonio Gramsci and India: The Hegemony – Concept and Function.”
The session was moderated by Rev. Thanga Kumar, and the paper was presented by our respected Principal, Rev. Dr. Tapas Ghosh. 🙏
The seminar gave our faculty and students the opportunity to reflect on how Antonio Gramsci’s ideas about hegemony can be understood in the Indian context. It helped us to think critically about the ways in which culture, politics, and society shape people’s lives, and how Christian faith responds to such realities.
It was an enriching time of learning and discussion, where students interacted with fresh perspectives and deep insights. We thank our Principal and Moderator for guiding us, and we pray that such seminars continue to inspire our community for greater growth in knowledge and faith. 🌿📚
