The team “Enigmaa” of IIITA won 1st prize in the Smart India Hackathon 2025 Software Category, held at Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering and Technology, Puducherry. This demanding event was a 36-hour hackathon held on December 8-9, 2025, and the Problem Statement worked on by the team was “Rake Optimization Suite (ROS): AI-Based Decision Support System for Smart Rake Planning”. The team also won the prize of Rs. 1,50,000/-
The team successfully solved the challenging Problem Statement 25208, “Rake Optimization Suite (ROS): AI-Based Decision Support System for Smart Rake Planning,” presented by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The Rake Optimization Suite (ROS), is an AI/ML-driven Decision Support System designed to automate and optimize rake formation and dispatch planning for SAIL. It leverages real-time data on orders, inventory, wagon availability, and loading capacities to generate dynamic rake plans using optimization engines like OR-Tools and Pyomo, ultimately targeting the reduction of demurrage hours and improvement in rake utilization.
