S.D. College Sanatana Dharma College was started in 1946 by the efforts of Sri. K. Parthasarathy Iyengar and Sri. V. Parthasarathy Iyengar and Sri V. A. Krishna Iyengar and Dr S.

Sundara Raja Naidu as an offshoot of Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala established in 1905. Sanatana Dharma College was started in 1946 by the efforts of Sri K. Sundara Raja Naidu as an offshoot of the Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala established in 1905 by Rao Bahadur K. Venkitarama Naidu under the auspices of the Alappuzha chapter of the Theosophical Society. Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala, which manages the college, is a non-profit making institution that has made substantial contribution in the social, educational and cultural milieus of the otherwise backward district of Alappuzha in the south of Kerala. The Vidyasala serves the needs of students ranging from kindergarten to graduate research through institutions such as S.D.V. English Medium School, affiliated to the C.B.S.E., S.D.V. Boys’ High School, S.D.V. Girls’ High School, S.D.V. Higher Secondary School, and S.D.College. Sanatana Dharma College is affiliated to Kerala University and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as research degrees through approved research centres.
