With 20+ years of legacy, it focuses on quality management education, industry exposure, leadership development, and career-ready graduates. A two year, full time MBA Programme was started in U C College in 2013 with the approval of the Government of Kerala as a self financed course affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University. MBA degree is in dim light recently due to the proliferation of institu
tions and coaching centres offering MBAs of different streams, shades, and affiliations all over the country. However, functionally and professionally trained, groomed, and skill-equipped MBAs from reputed national level institutions like IIMs are all the more in demand. The demand for quality MBAs can only grow in a developing country like India. The 93 year old Union Christian College, an Arts and Science college of Pre-Independence era, entered into the field of management education with a well set quality bench mark of humanism, professionalism and excellence, all combined. MBA @ UCC has set the goal to equip young men and women for employment generation rather than for job searching. Historic Visits
***************
Ever since its inception, the College enjoyed recognition and admiration from men of eminence at the national and international levels, as evidenced by the visits of Tagore in 1922 and Mahatma Gandhi in 1925.The Mahatma addressed the teachers and students of the College on March 25, 1925 and wrote in the visitors’ diary of the College that he was delighted with the ideal situation. The mango sapling planted by Gandhiji still graces the campus and remains a hallowed historic spot. Mahatma Gandhi wrote:
“Delighted with the ideal situation”
(In the visitors diary of the U C College on March 25, 1925)
Emblem and Motto of the College
**************************************
The present emblem was adopted in 1939. The symbolism calls on the seekers after knowledge and truth to hold the torch, read the book and reap the harvest. The college motto is inscribed at the bottom of the emblem:The Truth shall make you free. This motto is drawn from a statement made by Jesus to the Jews: “You will know the truth and the truth will make you free”. The way to ultimate freedom is through ultimate truth as it was known to the great thinkers and sages of the world. For Mahatma, the father of our nation, the whole of his life was in the pursuit of truth and full of experiments with truth. His life demonstrated to the world that the way of truth leads to freedom. Traditionally the True has been linked with the Good and the beautiful as one of man’s supreme values. The pursuit of truth is in practice indistinguishable from the pursuit of knowledge. True knowledge sought in a spirit of enquiry should mature into wisdom and reverence. The College is a community of teachers and students bound together in partnership in the pursuit of truth, and those who assist them in this pursuit.
