A vibrant celebration of Talent Hunt 2026 and Teachers’ Day 2026 was organised through a collaborative initiative of Khalsa University and Khalsa College, bringing students and faculty together on a common platform to celebrate creativity, talent and the spirit of appreciation.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by the Head of the Department Dr Sania Marwaha, who welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members and students. The occasion was honoured by the presence of Dr. Surinder Kaur, Dean Academics, and Dr. Raminder Kaur, Dean Languages, as the esteemed guests of the event.
The students added great energy and enthusiasm to the celebration with a series of impressive performances. From engaging stage presentations to creative acts, the young participants showcased their confidence, talent and artistic abilities, receiving appreciation from the audience.
The celebration also marked Teachers’ Day, with a special cake-cutting ceremony held to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication of teachers. The occasion was further enriched by the prize distribution ceremony, where students were recognised and felicitated for their remarkable performances and achievements in the Talent Hunt.
The event provided a lively platform for students to express themselves and celebrate their diverse talents, while also highlighting the meaningful bond shared between teachers and students. The performances, felicitations and moments of togetherness made the celebration a memorable one for everyone present.
The programme concluded with a sense of joy and accomplishment, celebrating not only the talent of the students but also the invaluable role of teachers in inspiring, guiding and shaping the next generation.

Khalsa University Organizes Special Lecture on World Photography Day in Collaboration with Khalsa College
Students Gain Insights into Photography Under the Theme “Capture the Moment, Tell Your Story”.
The keynote expert session was delivered by Mr. Anil Kumar from Sony India, who provided students with valuable insights into the fundamentals and practical aspects of photography, including camera handling, framing, composition, lighting techniques and the art of visual storytelling.
The event was attended by Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa, Principal and Chief Guest, Khalsa College, Amritsar; Dr. Sania Marwaha, Head, DJMC, Khalsa University, along with faculty members and students of the department.

Khalsa University Journalism Students Gain Industry Insight at Special Screening of Kanke De Olhe

The students of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Khalsa University, along with the faculty members, attended a special screening of the Punjabi film Kanke De Olhe as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to provide practical and industry-oriented learning experiences. The screening offered students an opportunity to understand the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, including storytelling, direction, cinematography, editing, and screenplay.

The visit enabled students to observe how cinema serves as a powerful medium of communication, reflecting social realities, culture, and human emotions. It also encouraged them to critically analyze the film from a media perspective and relate classroom concepts to real-world filmmaking practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sania Marwaha, Head, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Khalsa University, said, “Exposure to meaningful cinema is an integral part of media education. Such academic screenings help students develop critical thinking, appreciate the art of visual storytelling, and gain valuable insights into the functioning of the film and media industry. The department is committed to providing experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for successful careers in journalism and mass communication.”

The students appreciated the initiative and described the screening as an enriching and insightful learning experience.

In the journalism classroom, film making is the best source of interaction among students . Film making leads to preparation and unlocks the brain and the pathway to productive results, keeping this fact in mind the Department of journalism and Mass communication, Khalsa College Amritsar organised film screening of various short movies made by newly admitted students of journalism and Animation.
Students of journalism displayed their pictures on various social issues like Drug Addiction , Artificial intelligence, Uprising R**e Cases in India Etc.Total number of five short films were screened and Sargeen and her group from BAJMC Sem-Ist bagged the first position.

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Khalsa University Amritsar organized a documentary screening on the environmental concerns of Sri Amritsar Sahib.

The documentary “Between Reverence and Reality”, produced by students, highlighted waste and pollution challenges in the city ahead of Amritsar’s 450th foundation anniversary in 2027.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh appreciated the initiative, while Chief Guest Kuldeep Singh Gargaj emphasized the need to maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the holy city.

The event was attended by PPCB chairperson Reena Gupta, Mayor Amritsar Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Dean Academic Affairs Khalsa University Dr. Surinder Kaur, Dean Languages Khalsa University Dr Raminder Kaur ,Dr Kanwaljit ,Dr. Inderjit Gogwani and Dr. Sania Marwaha .
