Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Khalsa University Amritsar organized a documentary screening on the environmental concerns of Sri Amritsar Sahib.

The documentary “Between Reverence and Reality”, produced by students, highlighted waste and pollution challenges in the city ahead of Amritsar’s 450th foundation anniversary in 2027.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh appreciated the initiative, while Chief Guest Kuldeep Singh Gargaj emphasized the need to maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the holy city.

The event was attended by PPCB chairperson Reena Gupta, Mayor Amritsar Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Dean Academic Affairs Khalsa University Dr. Surinder Kaur, Dean Languages Khalsa University Dr Raminder Kaur ,Dr Kanwaljit ,Dr. Inderjit Gogwani and Dr. Sania Marwaha .

Media Mela 2026 was a vibrant and dynamic event organized by Khalsa University in collaboration with the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Khalsa College. The event brought together students from various colleges and universities, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity and talent in the field of media.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Mehal Singh, Dr. Surinder Kaur, and Dr. Sania Marwaha. It was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Bindu Sharma and Guest of Honour Dr. Namarta Joshi. Eminent personalities including Neha Dayal, Surinder Farishta, Arwinder Bhatti, and RJ Addy also attended the event and interacted with the students.

A variety of competitions such as Ad Mad, Radio Jockeying, Photography, and Short Film Making were organized, making the event engaging and competitive. With participation from over 200 students representing more than 15 colleges and universities, the event created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and innovation.

Media Mela 2026 not only celebrated student talent but also provided valuable exposure and practical experience, helping participants prepare for future careers in the media industry.

PG Department of Journalism and Mass communication,Khalsa College Amritsar organized a one day educational visit to 94.3 MY FM on 13th February 2025 on the occasion of World Radio Day for the Bachelors as well Masters students of Journalism And Mass Communication. Total of 50 journalism students visited the Radio Station. The main aim of this educational visit was to familiarize the students with the growing importance of radio and to give them practical exposure of the electronic media. It was quite an interactive session, where students asked numerous questions from RJ Deep. While interacting with the students RJ Deep stressed upon the modern concepts in the radio and compared the old techniques of radio with modern technologies .He also told students the skills that are required to become proficient radio jockey and also emphasized the importance of World Radio Day. He also emphasized how students can work on voice and various software required in the radio station.
Principal, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Kahlon, congratulated Head of the department Dr. Sania Marwaha, for organizing such visits, she further said that “Radio is a powerful medium for celebrating humanity in all its diversity and constitutes a platform for democratic discourse.
HoD, Dr. Sania Marwaha, told the students that radio stations serve diverse communities, offering a wide variety of programs, viewpoints and content, and reflect the diversity of audiences in their organisations and operations. The Students were accompanied by Prof. Jahanvi Rajput and Prof. Ashutosh Thakur.
