Preparing Students for Success Beyond the Classroom 🌟

Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, the Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, successfully organised a session on “Life Skills & Career Skills” on 3 September 2026.

The session, centred around the theme “Empowering Students with the Skills for Life, Leadership, and Learning,” featured S. Maninder Singh Sehmi, Advisor, KLaD (Keep Learning and Developing), who shared valuable insights on essential career and life skills, decision-making, personal values, and holistic success.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Amit Chopra, Director of Placements, Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement, followed by the insightful session. Dr. Dilpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, University Business School and Event Coordinator, delivered the Vote of Thanks.

With enthusiastic student participation and an engaging Q&A session, the programme provided valuable insights to help students become more confident, adaptable, and career-ready.

EPAM Systems, a leading global digital transformation and software engineering firm, selected five students from the 2027 passing-out engineering batch during its recent campus recruitment drive. The selected candidates have been offered a competitive compensation package of Rs. 8.48 Lakhs Per Annum (LPA). Prior to their full-time employment, the students will undergo a six-month internship from January to June 2027, during which they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 27,500.

Directorate of Placement and Career Enhancement at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) successfully organized a series of two intensive Employability Skills Training Workshops for final-year female students on campus. The Directorate also started the third batch of this program. The 40-hour, six-day workshops were fully sponsored by Mahindra & Mahindra and implemented by NAANDI Foundation, drawing female students from various university departments. The comprehensive curriculum focused on essential professional competencies, including interview readiness, group discussion strategies, resume writing, and interpersonal communication.

Directorate of Placement and Career Enhancement at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) successfully organized a Credit Awareness Program in collaboration with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India. The session aimed to enhance financial literacy among students, particularly from non-commerce backgrounds, by equipping them with essential knowledge of credit management and responsible borrowing practices.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students belonging to diverse disciplines such as Engineering, Technology, and Sciences. The session provided valuable insights into the credit and lending ecosystem.

In a significant step towards enhancing employability and economic security among underprivileged youth, Guru Nanak Dev University, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Naandi Foundation, a prominent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to people-centred development.

The MoU was formalised under the leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, whose visionary approach has been instrumental in forging such impactful collaborations. His emphasis on bridging academia with real-world employability has earned widespread appreciation, and this partnership exemplifies his commitment to empowering marginalised youth and advancing social equity.

The agreement focuses on implementing a comprehensive Employability Skill Development Program aimed at final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The free-of-cost initiative will equip young girls and other underprivileged students with essential new-age skills, soft skills, communication abilities, life skills, interview preparation, and domain-specific training over 36 to 120 hours, as mutually decided by both parties. Till now over 750 students from GNDU have already received training in the said employability skills.

Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement organized campus placement drive by IT company EPAM Systems, Hyderabad. EPAM Systems selected three B.Tech. CSE students at a package of ₹8.48 LPA, which also includes a 6-month internship with a monthly stipend of ₹27,500.
