DAV College Student Secures Top Position in M.A. (Economics) at GNDU,
Amritsar:

Kusum Sharma brought laurels to the College by securing the Third position in the M.A. (Economics) - Sem II examination at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU)

DAV College Organizes
Panel Discussion on “Regional Start-up Ecosystem Enablers”

The PG Department of Economics in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a panel discussion on “Regional Start-up Ecosystem Enablers”. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta shared that the main aim of this session was to create awareness among students about entrepreneurship, innovation, and the evolving start-up ecosystem.

The resource person Mr. Anshdeep Singh discussed the fundamentals of starting a business and the key factors that contribute to the successful development of a start-up. Students were given insights into identifying viable business opportunities, transforming ideas into innovative solutions, and understanding the challenges involved in establishing and sustaining a new venture.
He also discussed about the various sources of finance available to start-ups at different stages of their development.
HOD, Economics Dr kamal Kishore shared that the panel discussion was expected to help students understand how appropriate financial support can facilitate the transition of an idea into a sustainable enterprise. The session also encouraged the participants to think creatively, recognize emerging opportunities, and explore entrepreneurship as a potential career pathway.

DAV College Organizes Slogan Writing Competition to Celebrate 6th Anniversary of National Education Policy

To commemorate the 6th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, DAV College organized an inspiring Slogan Writing Competition on the college campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, who showcased their creativity and understanding of the transformative vision of NEP 2020 through meaningful and thought-provoking slogans.

Principal Dr. Amardeep Gupta shared that the competition aimed to create awareness about the objectives of the National Education Policy, including holistic education, skill development, innovation, and the promotion of Indian knowledge systems. Participants expressed their ideas through impactful slogans emphasizing quality education, inclusivity, lifelong learning, and nation-building.

HOD, Economics, Dr. Kamal Kishore appreciated the students for their active participation and innovative thinking. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of NEP 2020 in shaping a progressive, inclusive, and globally competitive education system. The faculty members also encouraged students to contribute towards educational reforms by embracing creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
The first, second and third prize in the competition was won by Jannat Umat of B.Com-Sem I, Jashanpreet Singh of B.A-Sem I and Kartik Sharma of BCA -Sem III.

Data Analytics Club Visits Blood Bank for Practical Exposure

The *Data Analytics Club*, under the aegis of the *PG Department of Economics, DAV College, Amritsar* and in collaboration with IQAC of the college, organised an educational visit to the *Blood Bank run by KVI Education and Welfare Society, Majitha Road* under the MoU between the DAV College and KVI Welfare Society.
Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta briefed that the purpose of visit is to sensitise the students regarding importance of blood donation for the society.

*Dr. Kamal Kishore, Head of the Department of Economics,* and *Dr. Vikram Chaudhary, Convener, Data Analytics Club*, accompanied the students during the visit. *S. Bikramjeet Singh*, Chairperson of the Blood Bank, briefed the students about the functioning and management of the blood bank, including various aspects of blood collection, storage and dispersal.

As part of the academic collaboration, the Blood Bank also shared relevant data for analysis with the members of the Data Analytics Club. The data will provide students with an opportunity to apply statistical and analytical tools to a real-world dataset and gain practical experience in data-driven analysis.

The visit was an enriching learning experience, bridging classroom knowledge with its practical application in the field of data analytics.
Dr Jivan Jyoti Mahindroo, coordinator of IQAC praised this initiative taken by the Data Analytics Club.

DAV College Amritsar Promotes Digital Literacy and Financial Inclusion

Amritsar, September 10, 2026: On the occasion of International Literacy Day, the Planning Forum of the PG Department of Economics, DAV College, Amritsar, comprising students of B.A./B.Sc. (Economics) and M.A. Economics, organised an initiative titled “Digital Literacy and Financial Inclusion: Empowering Domestic Helpers through Digital Payments.”

The initiative was conducted under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Amardeep Gupta, Principal, Hod Economics Dr. Kamal Kishore, and Incharge Planning Forum Dr. Ritu Arora.

As part of the initiative, students guided domestic helpers in making digital payments through GPay, helping them develop practical digital skills and greater confidence in using digital financial services.

The initiative highlighted the evolving meaning of literacy in the digital age, where education extends beyond the classroom to promote financial independence, inclusion and social empowerment. The programme also enabled students to contribute meaningfully towards creating a digitally inclusive society.
