Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2025, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment.

The event commenced with Dr. Satyavan Rampal sharing a powerful message on the legal and ethical implications of ragging, reminding students of their responsibility to protect one another and uphold institutional dignity. He encouraged senior students to choose mentorship over intimidation, becoming positive role models for their juniors.

The Principal, Dr. H.K. Verma, followed with a motivational speech encouraging the students to uphold the values of empathy, integrity, and mutual respect. He emphasized the role of veterinary professionals as compassionate leaders and urged students to build a culture of support and camaraderie.

The session concluded with a collective pledge to stand against ragging and promote a welcoming atmosphere for all incoming students.

KCVAS continues to lead by example in creating a campus where every learner feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Holds Oath-Taking Ceremony for Graduates

The Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar, successfully organized the Oath-Taking Ceremony for 53 graduating veterinary students from the Class of 2019. Dr. H.K. Verma, Principal of KCVAS, administered the Veterinarian’s Oath, urging the graduates to adhere to the highest standards of veterinary ethics in their professional practices.

NSS SPECIAL CAMP at KCVAS concluded

A seven day NSS special camp of 82 BVSc students (budding Veterinary doctors) with theme " Igniting Youth for National Integrity and Social Services" was held in KCVAS, Amritsar from 12 to 18 December, 2023. It was inaugurated by Dr HK Verma, Principal, KCVAS, Amritsar. He emphasized on the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. A developed nation implies a focus on sustainable growth, improved living standards, and the overall well-being of the population where youth play a significant role & further he stressed on the integral role of NSS activities in instilling essential social values and creating awareness regarding community services amongst youth of the nation. Dr. Manrajdeep Singh, NSS Programme Officer; Dr. Sheikh Uzma, Dr. Harneet Kour, Dr. Palpreet Singh NSS officers, were instrumental in organizing this camp for gaining skills, acquiring leadership qualities, team building, and democratic values among veterinary students. The eminent speakers during the camp were Dr Navdeep Singh, on the role of a balanced diet in promoting overall health and Mr. Kuwar Amritbir Singh, the Push-up man of Punjab was also invited to inspire NSS Volunteers. Dr Natasha Sambyal, Associate Professor, enlightened students about "Human Menace". While Dr S.K. Kotwal, Head, Livestock Products Technology dept. talked about the "Do's and Dont of Rabies". An educational tour to Modern Dairy farm and Feed Factory along with a patriotic tour to Wagah Border and a religious tour to Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara were also conducted. Further, a cleanliness drive on the campus to promote a cleaner and healthier space in college, where students took initiatives like litter cleanups, waste segregation, and "no to plastic bags on campus". Further, singing, poetry, essay writing, poster-making competitions, painting, sketching, and debate competitions were also held. The camp has Sports Events viz: Volleyball, Kabbadi, Badminton, TT, Skipping, Arm Wrestling, Chess, Tug of war, Kho Kho, Pushups, Badminton and a Cricket match.
Finally, Art, cultural, and literary activities were also demonstrated to the student. NSS students were appreciated and awarded medals and certificates by Dr. Verma, on the last day of camp. Students appreciated the role of NSS teachers & KCVAS for providing them an opportunity to values of life & social set during the camp. So, they have adopted not me but your attitude after the NSS camp upholding the need for selfless service.
