The inception of the college was undertaken in the year 1977 with the ambition to provide higher education in nearby villages. The college was named as 'Nimina Brundaban chandra College through the high generosity of late K. Das, Mahanta Maharaj of Nimina, and by the donations collected from the people of this area working at Rourkela, sunabeda and in some Coal mines The management of the college functioned well under the able and dynamic guidance of Late G. Ch Padhy, the Ex -Headmaster of Pragati Vidyapeetha, Kendupadar. Late SK Patnaik, the Ex-Headmaster of Pragati Vldyapeetha as the Secretary of the management, along with the association of some of the patrons of the area, could adopt successful steps for the accord 9f Government concurrence and university affiliation to Arts and Commerce classes in Intermediate stage from the year 1979 A' strong foundation of the college was shaped by the sincere effort and co-operation .of the teachers of Pragati Vidyapeetha. The financial backbone, capable and organised management and the educational improvement could be strengthened by the then Management Committee of the college under the president ship of late K. Ch Das Mahanta Maharaj of Nimina. The classes were primarily conducted in the western premises of Pragati Vidyapeetha from Aug 1978- to May 1983 When the government land could not be alienated, the villagers of Kendupadar became Kind enough to transfer the Irrigated lands of 10 acres with open heart In the name of the college on the bank of Mahanadi Canal from the academic session 1983-84, classes have been conducted In its own building built from the Students' Development Fund and by the philanthropic donations of Late K.C Das, Mahant Maharaj of Nlmlna Higher Secondary classes In Arts and Commerce are affiliated to the council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa from the session 1983-84. The college has. also extended the teaching facilities to Degree Classes in Arts from 1981-82 although the government concurrence and University affiliation was accorded from 1987 88. Science stream In +2 stage has been affiliated to C H S E Orissa from the session 1990-91
