As part of the All India Gandhi Literature Conference, a street play competition based on the thoughts and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi was inaugurated today at Chintan Gaah, MGM University. The competition is being jointly organised by Mahatma Gandhi Mission and Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Pune. Following the inauguration ceremony, participating teams presented their street plays effectively at the CIDCO Bus Stand premises.

Through this competition, an effort is being made to take Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, self-reliance, social equality and human values to society through the impactful medium of street theatre. The street plays presented by college students, connecting various contemporary social issues with Gandhian thought, received an enthusiastic response from citizens.

MGM University Chancellor Shri Ankushrao Kadam, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vilas Sapkal, former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sudhir Gavhane, Registrar Dr. Ashish Gadekar, Dean Dr. Rekha Shelke, judges Sanjay Haldikar, Madan Mimrot and Dr. Surekha Masal, Head of Department Dr. Raju Sonawane, Prof. Machhindra Gorde from Gandhi Bhavan, faculty members, students and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony.

अखिल भारतीय गांधी साहित्य संमेलनाच्या निमित्ताने महात्मा गांधी मिशन आणि महाराष्ट्र गांधी स्मारक निधी, पुणे यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने आयोजित महात्मा गांधी यांच्या विचारधारेवर आधारित पथनाट्य स्पर्धेचे उद्घाटन आज विद्यापीठातील चिंतनगाह येथे मान्यवरांच्या उपस्थितीत संपन्न झाले. उद्घाटन सोहळ्यानंतर सिडको बसस्थानक परिसरात सहभागी संघांनी पथनाट्यांचे प्रभावी सादरीकरण केले.

या स्पर्धेच्या माध्यमातून महात्मा गांधी यांचे सत्य, अहिंसा, स्वावलंबन, सामाजिक समता आणि मानवी मूल्यांचे विचार पथनाट्याच्या प्रभावी माध्यमातून समाजापर्यंत पोहोचविण्याचा प्रयत्न करण्यात येत आहे. पथनाट्यांना नागरिकांचा उत्स्फूर्त प्रतिसाद मिळाला.

उद्घाटन सोहळ्यास एमजीएम विद्यापीठाचे कुलपती श्री. अंकुशराव कदम, कुलगुरू प्रा. डॉ. विलास सपकाळ, माजी कुलगुरू डॉ. सुधीर गव्हाणे, कुलसचिव डॉ. आशिष गाडेकर, अधिष्ठाता डॉ. रेखा शेळके, परीक्षक संजय हळदीकर, मदन मिमरोट, डॉ. सुरेखा मसाळ, विभागप्रमुख डॉ. राजू सोनवणे व सर्व संबंधित मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with enthusiasm at MGM University with the organisation of various activities to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. At a programme held at Rukmini Auditorium, floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi and Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of their birth anniversaries.

MGM Vice Chairman Dr. P. M. Jadhav, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vilas Sapkal, Registrar Dr. Ashish Gadekar, Dean Dr. John Chelladurai, along with all Deans, Directors, Principals, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, the dignitaries inaugurated a blood donation camp and the exhibition titled ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’.

महात्मा गांधी यांच्या १५७ व्या जयंतीनिमित्त महात्मा गांधी मिशन विद्यापीठात विविध उपक्रमांचे आयोजन करून गांधी जयंती उत्साहात साजरी करण्यात आली. रुक्मिणी सभागृहात आयोजित कार्यक्रमात राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी आणि भारतरत्न लाल बहादूर शास्त्री यांच्या जयंतीनिमित्त त्यांच्या प्रतिमांना सुतमाला अर्पण करून पुष्पांजली वाहण्यात आली.

यावेळी एमजीएमचे उपाध्यक्ष डॉ. पी. एम. जाधव, कुलगुरू प्रा. डॉ. विलास सपकाळ, कुलसचिव डॉ. आशिष गाडेकर, अधिष्ठाता डॉ. जॉन चेल्लादुराई, सर्व अधिष्ठाता, संचालक, प्राचार्य, विभागप्रमुख, प्राध्यापक, विद्यार्थी व सर्व संबंधित मान्यवर उपस्थित होते. यावेळी, मान्यवरांच्या हस्ते रक्तदान शिबिर तसेच ‘अहिंसा परमो धर्म’ या प्रदर्शनाचे उद्घाटन करण्यात आले.
