Maharaja Agrasen University Barotiwala, Baddi

Maharaja Agrasen University Barotiwala, Baddi MAHARAJA AGRASEN UNIVERSITY Inaugurated By Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India On 25th May 2013..... His kingdom comprised 18 units.

Maharaja Agrasen University (MAU)derives its name from the revered Maharaja Agrasen. He was born during the laststages of the 'Dwapar Yuga' and he established the Kingdom of Agroha near Hissarin Haryana about 5000 years ago. The head ofeach unit was assigned a specific 'gotra'. Equality, Humanism & Nonviolence were the guiding principles of his kingdom. He promulgated that anyimmigrant coming to A

groha to settle down be given a brick and a rupee by eachresident. Thus, the immigrant would have a hundred thousand bricks to build ahouse for himself, and a hundred thousand rupees to start a new business. Thisway, with a small help from the society, all citizens could attain equal statusin a community of equals. The Government of India issued a postage stamp inhonour of Maharaja Agrasen in 1976 on the occasion of his 5100th jayanti. The visionary ideas of PanditMadan Mohan Malviya, who was a pioneer of value based higher education, constitute the foundation principle of our University. The university is notmerely a place meant for imparting knowledge or professional skills, but atemple of education which can transform individuals into responsible citizens.Malviya Ji wanted that higher education should harmonise modern scientific knowledgeand practical training with moral values. He envisaged that the best of Indianlearning must be blended with contemporary scientific ideas. Banaras HinduUniversity (BHU) which is also known as Mahamana's University, was establishedon his vision. Following the path of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Maharaja AgrasenUniversity envisions emerging as an Institute of Excellence.
